From the moment Narcissa stepped forward, Celeste already knew what she was going to say.
Her expression remained calm the entire time. She didn't stop Narcissa from speaking, but she also had no interest in listening.
Instead, she focused on the little girl who had suddenly appeared.
While Narcissa continued speaking to the crowd, Celeste bent down and calmly said to Jordyn, "Jo, it's pretty noisy here. Why don't you go back first?"
Jordyn had arrived halfway through the incident and had no idea what exactly had happened. She only understood bits and pieces of Narcissa's words and the whispers around them.
Hearing Celeste, she shook her head. "No, Mom. I'm not leaving. I want to go home with you when the banquet is over."
Celeste frowned slightly.
But Jordyn's attention was no longer on her. When she noticed Matthias looking at her, she turned to him as well.
Of course, she had met Matthias before. It had just been quite a long time since they last saw each other.
Seeing this, Celeste gently patted her head and introduced them. "This is Mr. Matthias. Say hello."
Jordyn obediently greeted him. "Mr. Matthias."
Looking at Jordyn, Matthias's emotions were complicated. But when she called him, he still nodded. "Good girl."
Celeste also noticed Hannah standing not far away, looking uncertain whether she should come over. She said again, "Jo, go back with Hannah first—"

Narcissa's words had been full of mockery and righteous indignation.
The surrounding guests had pointed fingers and whispered among themselves.
Everyone, including Narcissa, thought Celeste would panic. They thought she would be frightened, desperately trying to explain herself.
But instead, Celeste remained completely calm. Her attitude was almost as if this had nothing to do with her—as if Narcissa's accusations weren't worth her attention at all.
Seeing this, Narcissa's expression darkened.
Quentin also looked unhappy.
Trevor answered calmly, "That's not what happened."
The moment those words left his mouth, everyone froze. Not only the guests. Even Celeste, Matthias, Miles, and Beck were stunned.
Wynn was the most shocked of all. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Trevor.
Lilian and the others reacted the same way. They stood frozen, staring at him in shock.
Even Narcissa and Quentin were stunned.
Jorge's expression changed while Xavier looked completely confused.
Celeste stared at Trevor. She paused slightly, but she still said nothing.
After recovering from his surprise, Matthias's expression remained unchanged. He fixed his gaze on Trevor and asked, "Oh? What do you mean?"
Trevor replied, "She was dragged into this because of me. It had nothing to do with her. Otherwise, we never would have gotten married."

Somehow i am relieved today to see no updates than to be disappointed with yet another irritating show of everyone else's POV but the main characters...
I know everyone will not agree with me and I also know that Trevor is a trash and all but I want Trevor and Celeste to get back together. They should be the end game and for that to happen Trevor should start working hard for that second chance....
So we're going to go on for another 15 chapter's about jordan's temper tantrum with neither of the parents asking her what's wrong..stop milking it. The only reason i'm still reading is because i cant leave a book unfinished. What I'm pissed about is the book started with promise and turned into a circus....
The story should just come to an end and the writer should give their reader the closure they deserve. There's no point in keeping the story going. It's been the same since the start. Not has changed. The initial story plot was, that Celeste and Trevor are getting devorce and still after 800 + chapter, they are still heading for a devorce....
Don’t Shaws and Lockets reflect ever on themselves? Every difficult situation, they look forward to Wynn to ask for Trevor to help. Initially the focus of the novel was on how Wynn is so accomplished blah blah and now - she is just a useless person, incapable of anything. Irritating storyline...
I'm starting to get bored and I can't predict exactly where the story is headed....
Beck being the only actual adult to ask a child what’s wrong...
Can we get to the point its stagnant and I am unimpressed,I don't care about the company being in trouble nor the inner thoughts of others. Come on now....
