The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 125

Seeing someone she didn’t want to see, Nora’s first instinct was to get away.

But she had forgotten that Nathan was standing right next to her.

So when she hurriedly turned to hide, she slammed right into him, lost her balance, and started to topple sideways.

Nora gritted her teeth, cursing inwardly. Of course, nothing good ever happened when that scumbag Aaron was around!

Knowing she couldn’t avoid a fall, Nora closed her eyes and resigned herself to her fate.

But the sprawling, undignified fall she expected never happened.

Nathan caught her effortlessly, his arm locking around her waist like a band of steel.

The momentum sent them spinning in a circle.

The scene was like something straight out of a TV drama, and their colleagues from the precinct, who loved nothing more than a good show, started whistling and catcalling.

They all started teasing shamelessly, “You’re already holding her, you have to kiss her now!”

“Kiss! Kiss!”

“Kiss! Kiss!”

Nora, leaning completely against Nathan, heard the familiar voices jeering and felt her ears turn beet red.

Nathan paid no attention to the heckling. He just leaned in close to Nora and asked, “Are you okay?”

“Did you twist your ankle?”

Nora shook her head. She noticed that as Nathan spoke, his lips seemed to brush against her ear, and the heat from her ear slowly spread to her face.

Thanks to his height advantage, Nathan didn't miss this, of course.

A group of doctors, though tall and well-built, naturally lacked the intimidating presence of a team of elite detectives.

Especially since Aaron had thrown the first punch, his colleagues were both embarrassed and confused. They could only offer apologetic smiles. “We’re so sorry. We’re here for a dinner gathering. Dr. Wells probably mistook him for someone else. He doesn’t have a violent streak; he wouldn’t just attack someone.”

“You’re a real piece of work. Are you saying it’s okay to hit someone if you have a good reason? Do you have a total disregard for the law?”

The cops couldn’t stand to hear that and looked like they were about to give an on-the-spot lecture on public order laws.

The doctors were extremely embarrassed and kept shooting glances at Aaron.

After all, Aaron had started this mess, so it was his job to explain himself.

But Aaron didn't say a word. He just stared intently at Nora, who was still in Nathan’s arms.

The doctors were baffled. Following his gaze, they too noticed that something wasn’t quite right.
