“Actually, Ben has committed more than just these few rape-homicides.”
Nathan’s tone was heavy. “As a minor, Ben raped a widow who lived next door.”
“But those widows were already struggling to get by, so they suffered in silence. This only fueled the malice in Ben’s heart.”
“He likes women older than him, and as he grew up, his needs in that area became more and more intense.”
“Until his mother died.”
At thirty, Mrs. Foster started seeing a wealthy businessman.
The man treated her well and even promised marriage.
But eventually, he got bored.
Especially when he could no longer find any excitement with Ben’s mother, he began to use other methods to seek thrills.
Ben witnessed his own mother being sexually abused to death by that businessman. As she was dying, she kept murmuring that if only she were younger, her face a mask of someone who had been thoroughly brainwashed.
And so, Ben went from one extreme to the other.
He abandoned his original preferences and began to explore the taste of young girls.
“The reason he tricked Elias into being the scapegoat was because he was getting tired of it, and he found he couldn’t control his feelings for you.”
Nora’s fingers twitched.
“You don’t have to make it sound so romantic.”
Even though Nora was a medical examiner who was used to seeing dead bodies, hearing that a serial rapist had a crush on her still sent a chill down her spine.
When it came to a subject like this, there was no need to talk about passion or sincerity. It was just plain creepy.
“In short, he wanted to break free from the shadow his mother cast over him, he wanted to… be with you… and then go back to being himself.”
Nora fought back the urge to vomit.
“I only have one request.”
Nathan thoughtfully poured Nora a glass of water. “Go ahead.”
