Nathan toyed with the water bottle in his hand, his expression unreadable.
He didn't answer the question, instead asking coolly, "Is there anything else?"
"Hey, you brat, you're being mysterious even with your own grandfather? Hurry up and tell me what's going on. You and her—"
"It's getting late. It's not good for an old man's health to stay up. You should get some sleep. Goodnight."
With that, Nathan hung up the phone.
The room fell silent.
Nathan couldn't help but look up toward the door.
His gaze seemed to pierce through the two doors, seeing the girl living across the hall.
A fleeting smile crossed his eyes. Nathan stood up, grabbed a change of clothes, and went into the bathroom.

On the other side of the wall, in Nora's apartment, she leaned against the door for a long time after closing it, trying to calm her racing heart.
Honestly, Nora didn't know what she had been panicking about, to have bolted into her apartment without so much as a goodbye.
But even now, she found it hard to believe that Nathan was living right across from her.
It was surprising enough that the top detective had transferred from the Arvendale Regional Police Force to Luminport City.
But to be living right across the hall from her… could such a coincidence really happen in this world?
Before Nora could figure it out, her phone started vibrating wildly.
Thinking it was another work call, she answered without even checking the caller ID.
"Nora speaking."
The moment she finished, Aaron's furious roar erupted from the other end.
"Nora! Why didn't you wait for me!"
