The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 149

“Aaron, stop talking nonsense.”

Nora's head started to ache. She knew Aaron was shameless, but she never thought he'd be so brazen as to make things up in front of her colleagues.

“Nathan and I have a professional relationship. Stop projecting your own sleaze onto everyone else.”

Aaron opened his mouth to argue, but froze when he met Nora's icy gaze.

A sudden panic seized him.

*Does she really know about me and Mia?*

“Nora, I…”

“That's enough, Aaron,” Nora cut him off impatiently. “This is my workplace. Cooperate with the officers. If you keep causing trouble, don't expect me to be polite.”

Aaron's expression shifted, but he finally lowered his head. “I get it.”

The officers led Aaron away. As he was leaving, he shouted back, “Nora, I'll wait for you to get off work! I need to talk to you!”

Nora knew Aaron's type. His repeated requests to “talk” were just an attempt to use his old tricks, to sweet-talk her and keep her on the hook. Still, they needed to settle things once and for all.

So Nora nodded in agreement.

“Fine.”

Aaron looked relieved, the spring returning to his step. He even started chatting with the officers beside him. “I really have nothing to do with this case, just like I said…”

His voice faded down the hall, and Nora wearily rubbed her temples.

“Why did you agree to that?”

Nathan's expression was grim.

“Are you not serious about breaking up with him?”
