Nora hesitated for a moment before taking the nice-looking sandwich. "Sure."
The two of them walked side by side to the underground garage.
As Nora reached for the driver's side door, Nathan said, "Let me drive. You can eat your breakfast."
Nora didn't hesitate to hand over the car keys.
Settling into the passenger seat, she didn't know what to say to him since they weren't very familiar with each other, so she just focused on eating her breakfast.
The sandwich was still warm. One bite and her eyes instantly lit up.
"This is really good. Did you buy it at a breakfast shop near the complex?"
Nathan's eyes were on the road ahead. He answered casually without turning his head, "I didn't buy it. I made it."
"You made it?"
Nora looked at him in surprise.
Nathan glanced back at her.
Seeing her eyes wide with astonishment, like a Persian cat he once had, a slight smile touched his lips. He hummed in agreement. "I usually go for a morning run, and I make my own breakfast when I get back."
Nora gave him a thumbs-up. "That's impressive."
Unlike her, who never had enough time to sleep, let alone have the energy for a morning run.
"Running does wonders for the body."
"Pfft—"
Nora covered her mouth. "Sorry, I didn't mean to."
Seeing Nathan's confused look, Nora thought for a moment and explained, "The way you said that just now sounded like one of my old professors from school, so I couldn't help but laugh."
Nathan's expression hardened. "Do I seem old?"
Nora quickly shook her head. "Ahem, that's not what I meant… just the tone."
"Mm."
Nora felt a bit awkward, afraid of saying the wrong thing and making the atmosphere tense again, so she buried her head in her sandwich.
