The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 246

He flashed her a sickeningly hopeful smile and repeated his request.

Nora stared in sheer disbelief. Wasting another syllable on this parasite felt like an insult to herself. She turned and walked away, desperate to scrape him off her shoes.

"Nora!" Seeing her dismiss him so callously, Aaron finally dropped the nice-guy act. "Nora Hayes! If you refuse to help me, I swear I'll make sure you never work in peace again!"

Nora paused, glancing over her shoulder with a calculating look. "Are you threatening me?"

Aaron's gaze shifted nervously. He knew he was crossing a line, but he was willing to do whatever it took to climb the ladder.

"I'm not threatening you. I'm negotiating." Aaron softened his voice, adopting a coaxing tone. "Look, I know this isn't ideal, but you know how ambitious I am. Since you have the power to help me now, why refuse? We were together for seven years. We've been through so much. I don't believe you can just ruthlessly throw me away and marry someone else. Mia Hayes means nothing to me. I only entertained her because she wouldn't stop throwing herself at me. I'll promise you this—I'll marry you. You'll be my only wife. Once I get the position I want, I'll dump everyone else and focus entirely on our life together. How about it?"

"Go to hell!" Nora finally snapped, her patience vaporizing. "You absolute bastard, get the hell out of my sight!"

She couldn't fathom where he found the nerve to spew such vile nonsense to her face. It was nauseating.

"Nora Hayes!" Realizing she wasn't going to play ball, Aaron snarled. "Fine. I tried to be nice, but you want to play hardball? You just wait. After seven years, do you have any idea how much dirt I have on you? I highly suggest you cooperate. Otherwise, things are going to get very ugly for you and your mother."

Nora let out a cold laugh. "Do you even know where my mother is?"

Aaron froze.
