The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 273

Seeing the utter disbelief on Nolan's face, Nora gently explained, "Modern medicine offers plenty of ways for her to conceive your child."

"As long as he had your DNA, even a small, shady clinic could pull it off."

"But the woman goes through hell in the process, since those procedures rarely work on the first try."

Nora's gaze grew complicated. "It seems Rosalind really was desperately in love with this guy."

Nolan scoffed, his tone a mix of frustration and utter disgust. "Well, she clearly loved him enough to literally die for his master plan."

"That bastard better hope he can hide behind a screen for the rest of his life. If I ever catch him, I'm going to destroy him! I can't believe he used such a twisted scheme to frame me. If you guys hadn't been there, I would've been thrown in prison for sure."

There were eyewitnesses who claimed to have seen him push Rosalind off the balcony.

Combined with the undeniable fact that the baby she carried was biologically his.

Putting those two things together, it was impossible for anyone not to suspect a crime of passion.

But the truth was, Nolan barely even knew the woman!

Being dragged into a murder investigation out of nowhere was an absolute nightmare for Nolan.

Especially when the kidnapper had broken his arm because of it.

The thought made Nolan even angrier. "I've never suffered a day in my life, and then I get my arm snapped and screwed back together... Damn it, it hurts like hell!"

Nora tried her best to hold it in, but she still let out a laugh.

Why was such a tragic situation so funny when it came out of Nolan's mouth?

It really must have hurt, considering it pushed him to swear.

"As long as you're alive, that's what matters."

Nora couldn't magically take his pain away, so she offered a dry word of comfort.

Rosalind's case was completely detached from his family now, meaning the Devereaux Group and Nolan were fully cleared from the murder investigation.

"That's true..." Nolan mumbled bitterly. "I used to hate going home. I always felt suffocated and restricted there. But after surviving this, I realize there's no place like home."

"I miss my dad..."

Living up to his reputation as a total daddy's boy, he sniffled. "I don't think solving crimes is fun anymore."
