If Nolan actually managed to pass the exams on his own merit, then working together wouldn't be an issue.
If he failed, getting rejected would naturally make him give up.
"Dr. Hayes, you're here too."
Mr. Devereaux pushed the door open and walked in.
A brilliant smile spread across Nolan's face the second he saw his father.
"Dad, you're here! Did you bring me anything good?"
Mr. Devereaux shot his son a stern look.
Though he looked exasperated, sheer parental adoration shone in his eyes.
"I brought your favorite prime rib."
"But the doctor said you need to watch your diet, so you can only have a little bit."
After scolding his son, he turned to Nora. "Dr. Hayes, would you like to join us?"
Nora politely declined.
"I'm not really craving a heavy meal, but thank you for the offer."
Nolan glanced at her, asking with genuine concern, "Are you sure? When we were tied up, you didn't even eat those instant noodles. It's been so long, aren't you starving?"
Nora really wasn't hungry.
Plus, she had only come over to ask Nolan about Rosalind's case.
Now that she had her answers, it was time to head back to her own room.
Nathan was still waiting outside.
"I'm fine. You enjoy lunch with your dad, I'm going to head back now."
Nolan looked at her with puppy-dog eyes. "Nora, can I come find you later?"
"It depends on my schedule. Things get unpredictable at the precinct."
Nolan hummed in acknowledgment. "I'll just text you then."
"Sounds good."
Nora stood up. "Then, Mr. Devereaux—"
