The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 29

In all these years, Nora had never for a moment forgotten the humiliation of that day.

She hadn't sought revenge on the Hayes family, but now Mia had come to her.

And she was shamelessly provoking her. The standards for homewreckers were getting lower and lower.

“Admit it, Nora. You and your mom are complete and utter failures.”

Mia was like a venomous snake, her eyes dripping with mockery as she fixed them on Nora, as if Nora were prey to be toyed with.

“That day, you saw, didn’t you?”

Nora frowned but didn’t reply.

Mia smiled. “I know you saw.”

“You don’t have to pretend with me. To be honest, Aaron and I got together not long after you two started dating.”

“He’s just… never satisfied.”

“Do you know what he says about you to me?”

Nora stared intently at the woman before her.

She hadn’t realized Mia had seen her in the parking garage that day.

So Mia had said those things deliberately, just to torment her!

“He says you always have this lingering smell of death on you!”

“He also said you’re only a medical examiner because you’re a psycho with a weird fetish for being around dead bodies.”

“Aren’t you curious why you two have been together for so many years but have rarely been intimate? He barely even holds your hand.”

“That’s because—he’s disgusted by you!”

“Hahaha! Nora, you’re such a failure!”

Mia was laughing so hard she was nearly in tears.

“The man you thought was your true love can’t even stand you!”

“Every time he’s with you, he’s actually thinking of me!”

“Admit it, Nora. You’ll never be better than me!”

Every word was a dagger to the heart, aimed to pierce through Nora.

Nora bit down so hard her jaw ached, fighting to keep her composure in front of Mia.
