“Get out!”
Nora pointed to the door. “Don’t make me call the police.”
With her mother’s transfer so close, Nora didn’t want to escalate things.
If her father got involved, it would likely hinder her every move from then on.
That man had lost his mind and all humanity; there was no telling what he might do.
So, even after catching Mia trying to murder her mother, Nora could only suppress her hatred for the time being.
If that heartless, disloyal man hadn’t been so cruel back then, her mother wouldn’t have been plagued by illness at such a young age and ended up in this state.
Nora hated that man. If she’d had the power to stand up to him, she would have gotten her revenge long ago.
“Call the police?”
Mia, seemingly unfazed by the slap, leaned against the doorframe. The bright red handprint on her face did nothing to diminish her provocative stare. “Go on, try it.”
“Dad won’t let me stay in jail for long.”
“But you, Nora, do you dare face Dad?”
“Have you forgotten what he said when he threw you and your mother out?”
Nora trembled with rage.
Of course she hadn't forgotten!
She would never forget!
That day, her mother finally couldn't take it anymore and asked for a divorce. The man flew into a rage, refusing to agree.
He had yelled, “For all these years, you and your daughter have eaten my food, lived in my house, and spent my money! I’ve given you a life of luxury! All I did was make the same mistake any man would make, and you can’t let it go? A divorce? Who gave you the right?!”
