The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 310

He wouldn't believe her anyway, so she might as well play along with the illusion of her newfound power.

Valerie had already messaged her, saying there was a breakthrough in her investigation.

The day she could finally exact her revenge was drawing closer.

All she had to do was stall Leonard. Once she had the evidence, destroying him would be incredibly easy.

"Save the sentimental nonsense for next time. You're wasting my time."

"Why did you drag me out here?"

"Make it fast. My time off is valuable."

Faced with Nora's impenetrable walls, Leonard clenched his fists.

Accustomed to absolute obedience, he had only ever suffered such blatant disrespect from Nora.

And the worst part was, he couldn't say a damn thing about it.

Gritting his teeth, Leonard pasted on a smile. "Nora, I called you here so we can clear the air between the three of you in front of me."

"Rest assured, if it turns out Mia destroyed your relationship with Aaron, I won't let her off easy."

"Who does Aaron think he is, playing games with my daughters? He's just a lowly doctor. He doesn't deserve either of you."

When he said this, genuine disdain flashed in his eyes.

For once, he was telling the truth. He truly looked down on Aaron.

A mocking smile flickered in Nora's eyes.

Aaron had schemed and plotted, completely unaware that he was nothing more than a disposable toy to the very people he tried to impress.

Seeing her silence, Leonard assumed she was moved. He chuckled and reached for her hand.

"Nora, I promise I won't play favorites. Whoever is at fault will take the blame. I'm standing by you this time, and I'll get you justice."

Nora didn't believe a single word of his sudden devotion.

"Are you dreaming? Nora, how can you be so greedy?"

Without his shares, how could he remain the CEO of the Hayes Group?

Nora met his furious gaze with a soft scoff, saying nothing more.

That simple scoff hit harder than a thousand words ever could.

Leonard's face turned green. He opened his mouth to defend himself, his lips trembling, but ultimately clamped it shut in defeat.

His true colors had been exposed; no amount of backpedaling would fix it.

With him silent, the air around them instantly felt cleaner.

Nora's frown finally smoothed out, and she followed Leonard to Aaron's hospital room.

Inside the room, the two occupants turned at the sound. Their eyes widened in pure shock as they blurted out in unison, "Why are you two here together?"
