"You!"
Nathan was undoubtedly the most arrogant young man Leonard had ever encountered.
Aaron, whom he favored, was as obedient as a trained dog in front of him. What gave Nathan the right to act so insolent?
And he actually had the audacity to boast that he could not only meet the conditions but exceed them?
Leonard let out a furious laugh. "Young man, talking a big game doesn't cost a dime, but a dowry requires real money."
"Anyone can brag."
"I know you are trying to save face, but you shouldn't be playing these pathetic games with me."
"You can go out and ask around. Find out exactly who Leonard Hayes is."
"Nora is my daughter, and I absolutely refuse to let her suffer any grievances."
"I do not approve of this marriage."
"Get your facts straight. Even though her mother and I are divorced, her mother is sick right now. As her father, I will make the decisions regarding her marriage, and I have every right to do so."
"I will never let my daughter marry you."
He shot a threatening look at Nora. "Nora, shouldn't you think about your mother before you make any decisions?"
Her fingers instantly curled into fists.
She knew this old bastard had sinister intentions.
He was actually using her mother to threaten her again!
Seeing the color drain from her face, Leonard knew his threat had hit the mark.
At that moment, he felt immensely glad he had taken the decisive step to move her mother away earlier.
Otherwise, given Nora's stubborn streak, he wouldn't have had any leverage.
"Nora, you are a devoted daughter. I believe you wouldn't just abandon your mother, right?"
