"Nora!"
Aaron grabbed Nora's hand and forcefully pulled her aside.
The suppressed rage in his voice was practically spewing in her face.
"What do you think you're doing!"
"Didn't I tell you? She's an heiress to the Hayes Group! You dare to file a report against her? Has looking at corpses all day rotted your brain?"
Pain filled Nora's eyes.
Even knowing this man was a two-faced, nauseating hypocrite.
Hearing him use her profession to insult her was still unbearable for Nora.
The words were like barbed blades, leaving Nora's heart bleeding.
"Aaron, say that again."
Nora stared daggers at Aaron and said, word by word, "Say what you just said one more time!"
Meeting Nora's furious eyes, Aaron realized he had lost control and blurted out what he truly thought.
"Nora… that's not what I meant… I… I just think you're being too impulsive."
Aaron scratched his head, at a loss.
He wanted to say something to fix it, but thinking about the current situation, his heart was pounding and he couldn't even form a complete sentence.
In the end, Aaron made up his mind.
"Nora, listen to me. Go tell those officers you filed a false report, that it was all a misunderstanding. Then go and apologize properly to Ms. Hayes."
"Don't think you can rest easy just because you work for the police department and not worry about Ms. Hayes's retaliation. Even if you're not afraid, what about your mother?"
"Don't you know that the Hayes Group donated a lot of the equipment in this hospital? Even the hospital director has to show Ms. Hayes some deference."
"The consequences of you making a scene and hitting Ms. Hayes today are going to be severe!"
"I'll help you where I can, but you have to cooperate with me, okay, Nora? We've come so far. You don't want me to lose my job and your mom to have nowhere to stay, do you?"
