The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 347

Hearing this, Nora's eyes flickered with a sudden realization.

"Wait, do you mean..."

Nathan cast a sidelong glance at her. "It's exactly what you're thinking."

Nora was momentarily speechless. "Is it really just a massive coincidence?"

"Truth is stranger than fiction," Nathan replied, a smirk playing on his lips.

Nora stared through the one-way glass at Liam, finally giving a helpless shrug. "If that's the case, then Liam really does have the worst luck in the world."

Nathan watched the vivid expressions cycle across her face. The intelligent gleam in her eyes made his fingers twitch with the overwhelming urge to pull her close. If they weren't standing in the middle of a police precinct, he would have kissed her senseless right then and there.

Sensing his predatory gaze, Nora looked up. Caught in the sheer intensity of his stare, a furious blush crept up her neck. "What are you looking at?"

They were in the middle of a homicide investigation. Wasn't he worried someone would walk by and catch them acting like teenagers?

Nathan's voice dropped an octave, rough and thick with emotion. "Nora, did you know—"

"Hmm?" she hummed softly, waiting for the rest of his sentence.

Nathan's Adam's apple bobbed.

"Know what?" she prompted, offering him an adorable head tilt.

The innocent gesture nearly sent Nathan over the edge. But surrounded by colleagues and suspects, he ruthlessly reined himself in. He reached out, his hand gently but firmly cupping the back of her head. "I'll tell you when we get home."

Nora blinked. "Do you keep everyone in suspense like this? Or is it just an occupational hazard from being a cop for too long?"

Nathan chuckled, the tension breaking. "Yeah. Let's blame it on the occupational hazard."

She shot him a playful glare.

"Boss!"
