The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 36

“Nora, how could you be so foolish?”

Nora knew Aaron was deliberately trying to muddy the waters. She didn’t let him lead her astray and instead pointed to her camera.

“I have never used this camera to film anyone else. From the very beginning, it has only been aimed at my mother’s head and the monitor beside her.”

“Plus, this camera has a microphone that lets me hear the equipment alarms. That way, if anything happens while my mother is unconscious, I can contact a doctor immediately.”

“Besides—”

Nora looked at Aaron with a half-smile. “My mom is in a private room. There are no other patients here, so how could I be violating anyone’s privacy? Are you suggesting I’m violating my own mother’s privacy?”

Aaron was speechless.

He never in a million years imagined Nora would be so thoroughly prepared.

He clenched his fists tightly, his jaw twitching several times from the stress.

Nora ignored him and fixed her gaze on Mia. “Isn’t it a coincidence? The oxygen tube is right next to my mother’s head, so anyone who touched it would have been filmed perfectly.”

“Ms. Hayes, is there anything else you’d like to say?”

Mia swayed, nearly falling over.

Aaron wrapped an arm around her, and the two of them clung to each other like a pitiful, wronged couple.

“I…”

Mia’s mouth twitched uncontrollably. She wanted to beg for mercy, but her pride wouldn’t allow it.

But the consequences of not begging were something she absolutely could not bear.

In the end, Mia could only turn her head to look at Aaron, her eyes filled with a pathetic plea.

He was exasperated with her.

He had told her long ago not to cause trouble for Nora, but she refused to listen.
