The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 373

Valerie exchanged a look of pure disbelief with Nora.

Harold Peyton might not be the wealthiest man on the planet, but he was at the absolute top of the pyramid in Luminport City.

Why would a man like that need a favor from a lowly TV host?

"I do."

The older man pushed the envelope closer to Valerie. "Ms. Cruz, this is very important. I sincerely hope you agree."

Hearing the solemn tone in his voice, Valerie hesitated for a second before accepting the envelope.

"Please, tell me."

Seeing her take it, Harold's face lit up. "I'd like to ask you to be Nora's bridesmaid."

Valerie wasn't the only one stunned into silence.

Even Nora froze, completely failing to process the words.

"W-what?"

Harold Peyton was asking her to be Nora's bridesmaid?

Valerie and Nora stared at each other, both struggling to comprehend the situation.

Nathan shot his grandfather a sideways glance, took a sip of his tea, and kept quiet.

"I want you to be Nora's bridesmaid."

Harold looked at Nora, his smile warm and incredibly affectionate.

"Originally, I arranged four bridesmaids for her, thinking a big, grand wedding would be best."

"But when I found out you were her best friend, I changed my mind."

"When Nora gets married, she'll be happiest with her best friend standing right beside her."

Valerie's eyes widened in shock.

It wasn't that she hadn't thought about being Nora's bridesmaid.

"Don't worry about the dress. We'll handle everything. Just give us your measurements."

"I promise you'll match the bride perfectly. You'll both look absolutely gorgeous."

Now it wasn't just Nora—Valerie was so moved she was ready to ask Nathan if he had any single brothers.

Who wouldn't want to marry into a family like this?

"I'm available!"

Valerie clenched her fists.

She had to be available. Even if she ran out of vacation days, she'd skip work just to stand by her best friend's side on her big day!

"Wonderful. I'll have the dresses brought over shortly so you two can pick your styles. Then we'll take your measurements."

Valerie nodded enthusiastically. "Whatever you say, Mr. Peyton!"

Harold was a naturally engaging conversationalist, and Valerie made her living talking. As the two hit it off, chatting as if they'd known each other for years, Nathan seized the opportunity to sneak Nora upstairs.
