The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 42

"If that guy hadn't shown up, saved you, and called the police, we never would have known that the store manager had been harassing you for over half a month."

"You're more tight-lipped than a clam!"

Hearing Valerie mention that guy, Nora paused.

"Actually..."

"Actually what? Don't tell me you still have feelings for Aaron!"

"No!" Nora denied it instantly.

She never wanted to have anything to do with that scumbag Aaron ever again.

Just thinking about him made her sick.

"Then what is it?"

Nora bit her lip. "Actually, I ran into that guy recently."

Valerie was confused.

"Really? Didn't you say he left suddenly and you lost contact?"

"Yes, but he was recently transferred to my precinct."

"We're colleagues now."

Valerie was silent for a few seconds before screaming again.

"Ahhh, Nora, how much have you been hiding from me! I remember that guy was incredibly handsome! Ahhh, you lucky devil, talk about an upgrade!"

Valerie's excited reaction left Nora not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

"Well... he's alright, I guess."

"Try to humblebrag one more time and see what happens! A guy that handsome? Even after all these years of interviewing countless big shots and celebrities, I've never seen anyone who could compare."

"Oh, right, I remember you didn't even know his name back then. How did you recognize him? Did he recognize you?"

Nora thought back carefully, then shook her head. "Probably not. He's very professional with me."

She and Nathan had just met. How could there be anything going on?

Besides, she hadn't forgotten that in a month, she was supposed to marry Harold's grandson.

"By the way, Valerie, I actually called because I need your help with something."

Nora finally remembered her purpose for calling.

Hearing the serious tone in her voice, Valerie dropped the gossip and got serious. "Go on."

Nora briefly recounted the incident with Mia pulling her mother's oxygen tube.

"I didn’t want anything to do with Mia and her mother again, but they won't leave me alone. And I, Nora, am not that easy to push around."

Besides, if they were just bullying her, she could let it slide. After all, Mia had just taken a piece of trash Nora was throwing out anyway.

But if Mia dared to harm her mother, Nora would show no mercy!

"What do you want to do?"
