Nora explained her plan.
Valerie couldn't help but sigh. "That's so you."
She was still the same Nora—hard on others, but even harder on herself.
"Don't worry. After all these years in my job, I still have the connections to help you find that information."
"I'll come find you after I'm done with work in a few days."
Nora's expression softened instantly. "Thank you, Valerie."
"Hey, you don't have to thank me."
"If I had known things with Aaron would turn out like this, I would have dragged you to the Arvendale years ago."
"My mom is sentimental. She couldn't bear to leave Luminport City," Nora said, also regretful that she had never had the chance to visit the Arvendale Region.
"Well..." Valerie sighed. "Alright, that's the plan for now. I'll get someone on what you need right away. Send me an address later, and when I'm done here, I'll take a short vacation and drive over. We can talk more then."
"Okay."
Nora never expected that in her moment of need, the person who could help her most was the friend she had lost touch with. Her feelings were a complicated mix.
"Nora?"
Nora, who had been staring blankly at her phone, suddenly looked up and met her mother Grace Hayes's loving eyes.
"Mom, you're awake?"
Nora leaned in, pleasantly surprised. "How are you feeling? Does anything hurt?"
Grace's face was pale, giving her a fragile and gentle elegance.
In the past, it was because Mia's mother detested Grace's face and demeanor so much that she had ruthlessly schemed to drive her away.
It takes a woman to know a woman’s mind. A woman like Grace, with her gentle and elegant appearance and a personality that was soft on the surface but held a core of steel, was fatally attractive to men.
Mia's mother had moved heaven and earth to secure her position back then, so of course she wouldn't tolerate a ticking time bomb near her.
