What a nasty thing to say!

Nora’s fine brows furrowed as she forcefully shook off Aaron’s hand.

Aaron felt his palm go empty, and his heart seemed to empty along with it.

“Nora, what is this supposed to mean?”

His face was flushed with anger. He pointed a finger at the man standing in the shadows by the door, his voice dripping with undisguised malice. “You’re ignoring me for a guy like this? Is he better looking than me? Richer? I never knew you were such a fickle gold-digger, Nora!”

Nora couldn’t believe Aaron was making a scene in front of the police station. She felt deeply embarrassed.

Just as she was about to speak, she heard a scoff—

“Hey, Mr. Defensive, over here!”

Aaron froze and instinctively looked over.

The man who had been half-hidden in the shadows was pulled forward, his face revealed.

Everyone present gasped.

Nora even heard her young assistant whisper in a hushed, excited voice, “So handsome!”

Nora found herself nodding in agreement. He really was.

The man was at least six-foot-three, the very picture of a tall drink of water.

His black jacket and matching pants clung to a well-proportioned, lanky frame—broad in the shoulders, impossibly narrow at the waist, the perfect definition of a great physique.

Of course, more eye-catching than the man’s body was his face.

Even a 3D model couldn’t render a face that perfect.

His brows were well-defined, his eyes like black obsidian emitting a deep, dark glow. A straight, high-bridged nose sat above a pair of thin, tightly pressed lips, and his entire being radiated an air that warned strangers to keep their distance.

Nora’s gaze fell on the man’s left hand hanging at his side. It paused for a moment before she looked away, understanding dawning on her.

“Are you crazy?!” Aaron’s face darkened when he saw the man’s face. He waved a hand dismissively, annoyed that the two were interrupting his conversation with his girlfriend.
