The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 52

“But based on the residue on their clothes, that was the only logical conclusion.”

The pollen residue was found on the victims' chests.

The only explanation was that the victims had been holding flowers for a period, otherwise, there was no way to explain how the marks got there.

“The newly delivered body, Olivia, doesn’t seem to have any pollen marks on her clothes.”

“That’s right.”

“It’s strange.”

Nora thought for a moment. “I need to talk to Nathan about this again. You’re home now, right?”

“Yeah, I’m home. Just plopped down on the couch. After being so exhausted for days, the moment I lay down, I felt like I couldn't move a muscle.”

Nora smiled, gave her a few instructions on how to care for her wound, and ended the call with a simple, “Get some rest, then.”

She found Nathan’s number but, instead of calling, sent him a text message.

[Have you met the witness yet? I found a new lead and wanted to talk to you about it.]

There was no reply from Nathan.

Nora waited a bit longer. Seeing he still hadn't responded, she asked a colleague for Dennis’s number.

Dennis was very surprised to get a call from Nora. After learning why she was calling, he immediately offered to come over.

“I’ll wait for you at the coffee shop on the corner.”

Half an hour later, Nora saw Dennis hurry into the shop.

He had clearly rushed over, as his forehead was still beaded with sweat.

Nora felt a little bad. She handed him a napkin and said apologetically, “I’m sorry, did I interrupt something?”

“Not at all. Ms. Hayes, you’re going to all this trouble for my cousin. I can’t thank you enough.”
