The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 53

“I’m sorry, sir. I didn’t see any note about a lily allergy…”

The young delivery guy kept ducking his head and stammering apologies.

He tried to explain, even taking out the order slip to prove his point.

But the man gave him no chance.

The bouquet was slammed into the young man's body, sending petals scattering everywhere.

The other customers in the coffee shop watched with mixed expressions.

Someone tried to mediate. “Hey, let’s talk this out. Why get physical?”

With one person speaking up, others chimed in, softly defending the delivery guy.

The man’s girlfriend rolled her eyes at the wave of sympathy. “Look at all these bleeding hearts. My boyfriend ordered these flowers to make me happy. Now the flowers are ruined, and so is my mood. Who are we supposed to complain to? It’s not like they’re the ones who almost had an allergic reaction, right?”

“We paid for something and ended up unhappy. Who would be okay with that?”

Hearing the woman’s words, the others looked at each other, unsure what to say.

She had a point, technically.

But the delivery guy was human, and everyone makes mistakes. Besides, his apology seemed sincere, and most people felt he should be given a break.

Although they all had their own opinions, they weren’t the ones affected, so no one said anything more.

It was the shop employee who finally stepped forward and said to the delivery guy, “Why don’t you just reimburse them? It was your flower shop’s mistake, after all.”

The young man looked pained and conflicted. “If it were the shop’s mistake, I would, but I really didn’t see any note about a lily allergy… If I pay for this, my boss won’t reimburse me. I only make a few dozen dollars a day, I really can’t…”

Hearing this, the crowd’s sympathy for him grew.

The man and his girlfriend, however, were beyond furious.

“Say one more time that I didn’t write a note!”

“It was written in huge letters! Are you blind?”

The man’s patience had run out. After a few more curses weren’t enough to vent his anger, he lifted his foot and kicked the delivery guy.
