“Have him go with me?”
Nora was a little stunned.
She had agreed to Harold's marriage proposal.
But she had assumed they wouldn’t meet until the wedding day.
Now she had to go face Leonard. Would it be a bit awkward to have this stranger tag along?
“That’s right! My grandson is very capable. I guarantee your father won’t dare to mess around!”
Nora felt a bit awkward.
“It’s not that I’m afraid of my father messing around, it’s just…”
They were complete strangers. Meeting for the first time would be like a blind date.
Who on earth goes on a blind date that also involves negotiating with the woman’s estranged father?
Wouldn’t that be weird?
“Then it’s settled!”
“Don’t you worry, kiddo. My grandson is really something else. If worst comes to worst, he can just have your scumbag father arrested.”
“Arrested?”
As someone in law enforcement, Nora was sensitive to such words.
“What does your grandson do for a living?”
Harold was being coy. “You’ll have to ask him yourself. If this old man says too much, what will you two have to talk about later?”
“You young people can exchange intel later!”
“Send me the time and place, and I’ll have him go with you. Don’t worry, your mother will be fine.”
Nora felt a warmth spread through her heart.
Just as she was about to thank him, Harold had already hung up.
He was so fast that Nora barely had time to react.
He probably hung up so quickly because he was afraid she’d refuse.
Shaking her head with a wry smile, Nora forwarded the text message from Leonard to Harold.
A reply came back almost instantly: [ok! setting it up now! after you're done talking, you two can do whatever you want. grandpa's covering the bill! (smirk) (smirk)]
Nora was speechless.
