The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 7

Nora didn’t look up, only saying to Julia, “Let’s begin.”

Dennis wanted to ask more, but Nathan, who was standing beside him, grabbed his arm.

He turned to see Nathan shaking his head.

Nathan then approached the autopsy table, his gaze slowly falling on the woman in the surgical mask, which only made her luminous eyes stand out more.

He thought he could smell a faint, pleasant scent.

He unconsciously rubbed the fingers of his left hand together, his mind flashing back to the moment he had pulled her into his arms.

Nora was taller than average, around five-foot-eight, and when she had bumped into him, her soft hair had brushed against his collarbone. It had tickled, but it was surprisingly not unpleasant.

Nathan pulled his gaze away, his eyes landing on her slender fingers.

Watching her handle the scalpel, meticulously performing the autopsy and occasionally having her assistant jot down important data, Nathan’s eyes slowly narrowed.

This woman was calm, professional, and possessed a unique, innate charisma.

Interesting.

Half an hour later, the autopsy was finished.

After having Julia send the tissue samples for analysis, Nora printed several copies of the autopsy report and handed one to Nathan.

Nathan raised an eyebrow and took it.

“Dr. Hayes, my cousin…”

Nora looked at Dennis. Though she felt deep sympathy for the grieving man, her professional training kept her voice calm. “Based on the autopsy, her cause of death is identical to the other victims in the serial rape-murder case. A semen sample has been sent for testing. Once we have the results, we should be able to identify the killer.”

“That bastard!”
