But she never imagined that after so many years, she would see him again.
Nora composed herself. Her work was done, and she was about to pack up and go home when Julia and another assistant burst in.
“Nora! The results are in! The DNA doesn’t belong to Serial Killer A! It’s an unknown sample!”
“Nora, your boyfriend hit someone!”
Nora frowned, deliberately ignoring the assistant’s words and immediately grabbing her phone to call the criminal investigation team.
“Sir, there’s a new lead in the case!”

It was 10:30 PM by the time Nora reached the station lobby.
Aaron was standing dejectedly to one side. Next to him stood a young man from the nearby flower shop named Ben.
“Dr. Hayes, you’re finally here!”
Seeing Nora was like seeing a savior. An officer quickly approached and said in a low voice, “Your boyfriend seems a little unhinged. Someone hired Ben to deliver flowers to you, and when he saw it, he just rushed over and started punching the kid.”
“I swear, how old is he? Does he think he’s three? Attacking someone right outside a police station… it’s a total disregard for the law!”
“He’s been demanding to see you. And you know Ben, he’s got a sick grandmother at home. He’s too scared to ask for compensation even after being beaten. We all want to help him, but he won’t listen to us, and we can’t exactly… ahem. Dr. Hayes, maybe you can handle this?”
Nora nodded. “I’ll take care of it.”
The officer let out a sigh of relief. “I’ll leave it to you then, Dr. Hayes.”
Nora acknowledged him and walked over to the two men.
Nora didn’t actually know Ben very well.
