Leonard was furious.
But Nora just looked at him quietly, her gaze so clear it seemed to see through all his filth.
Leonard couldn’t even meet her eyes.
“Fine.”
In the end, Leonard gave in.
Although Nora had expected it, she was still a bit surprised at how quickly he had conceded. This partnership must be incredibly important to him to make him so agreeable.
“Where is my mother now?”
A flash of pain crossed Leonard’s eyes as he saw that Nora had no lingering affection for him as a father.
“Nora, no matter what, I am your father. Is there really nothing else for us to talk about?”
Nora said, “What do you think?”
Leonard was at a loss for words.
She was like a porcupine, covered in sharp spines. He didn’t even know where to begin.
“Nora, one day you’ll understand that I had your best interests at heart.”
Nora had no intention of wasting any more words with him, but seeing his self-righteous act, she let out a sneer and said mockingly, “You mean having an affair was for my own good?”
“Letting your mistress get pregnant and have a child was for my own good?”
“And kicking my mother and me out for your mistress was also for my own good?”
“Mr. Hayes, you can lie to others, but don’t start lying to yourself.”
Leonard’s face darkened.
