The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 9

If she hadn’t seen what happened in the parking garage, Nora might have found his words sweet enough to make her heart flutter.

Unfortunately, she would never believe another word from Aaron again.

Nora shot him a cold look. “I suggest you compensate him properly for his losses. If he presses charges, you’ll have a criminal record.”

“And I don’t think the promising Dr. Aaron Wells would want a stain on his record, would he?”

Aaron raised his eyebrows.

He hadn’t expected this reaction from Nora and was momentarily flustered. “Nora, what’s gotten into you?”

She used to dote on him so much, getting worried over a simple paper cut on his finger.

How could she be so calm and indifferent now?

It was as if he were a complete stranger!

“Did I do something to make you angry? Can you please not keep it inside and just tell me? Nora, I’m your boyfriend!”

Seeing him act so convincingly, Nora crossed her arms and asked leisurely, “Are you sure you want me to say it?”

“Of course!”

Thinking Nora was wavering, Aaron quickly put on a playful grin, trying to charm his way out of it. “Tell me who upset my Dr. Hayes! Nora, you tell me, and your man will take care of them for you!”

Nora almost laughed out loud.

She looked at Aaron with something akin to admiration.

If she hadn’t seen it with her own eyes, she really would have been fooled by him.

No wonder he had managed to keep her in the dark for so many years.

The man’s acting was so good, he could win an Oscar.

“That won’t be necessary. I’m tired. I want to go home and rest.”

Aaron immediately said, “Then I’ll take you home!”

He started to follow Nora toward the exit.

“Hold on, Aaron! You haven’t resolved this yet!” an officer called out.

Aaron’s brow furrowed in annoyance. “What’s the big deal? All he wants is money, right?”
