“It is strange.”

The team began discussing this new discovery.

Nora looked at the relationship chart others had put up on the board. She noticed that Chloe’s stepbrother actually knew Emma.

“How do they know each other?” Nora asked.

“Chloe's stepbrother went to the factory to find Chloe a few times, and Emma was there on several occasions. He asked Emma to give things to Chloe, and they got to know each other over time.”

“According to Emma, Chloe's stepbrother, Eric Nolan, is a very nice person.”

Nora stared at the two photos, lost in thought.

“What is it?”

Nora suddenly realized that it seemed whenever she turned her head, she could see Nathan’s tall figure.

But now wasn't the time to dwell on that. She pointed at Emma and asked softly, “Has this girl been brought to the station?”

“Yes, she and Timothy’s family are in the interrogation rooms.”

“I want to go see them.”

“Okay.”

After speaking, Nathan turned around, as if to lead the way for Nora.

That strange feeling washed over her again.

As the team captain, shouldn’t Nathan be here directing the whole operation? Why did she always feel like he was just playing a supporting role for her?

“I can go by myself.” Not wanting to bother him, Nora declined.

“It’s no trouble. I need to head over there anyway. We’re just one clue away from being able to analyze the case.”

Nora’s eyes lit up. Forgetting everything else, she quickened her pace to walk beside Nathan. “You already know who the killer is?”

“I have a general idea. I'm just missing a piece of the puzzle.”

Nora looked at him with admiration. “You’re amazing.”

“Outside the box?” Nora was confused.

Nathan guided her patiently. “Chloe was indeed not very sociable, but that doesn't mean she had no desire to confide in anyone. Is it possible she was secretly close to someone and others just didn't know?”

“She was saving money to go back to school. Someone in her family must have been helping her hide it. Otherwise, wouldn't her stepmother have noticed when she handed over less of her salary each month?”

“Of course!” Nora continued his thought. “That means at least two people knew Chloe had saved a lot of money and had withdrawn it that day to go back to school.”

“At home, it was either Timothy or her stepbrother, Eric.”

“And at the factory… it was Emma? Someone like Chloe would definitely remember the kindness of others. She remembered everyone at the factory who helped her and knew to buy them things to show her gratitude. That makes her relationship with Emma obvious.”

“After all, you wouldn’t leave your personal belongings for someone unless you were close.”

“Exactly.” Nathan’s tone was light. “This case is actually easy to solve.”

“The key is the motive for the murder.”

“Why didn’t Chloe take the money straight to the school to register instead of going to an abandoned factory? And why would three people who were supposedly so close turn on each other?”
