“That makes sense.”
Nora continued, “A person's memory is usually triggered.”
“There are some things you won't remember until something jogs your memory.”
“Normally, if I ask what you ate, you'll first remember what you ate, and then maybe why you ate it or what it was like eating it.”
“You don't start with washing your hair.”
“I get it. So, this Emma…”
Nora's gaze turned cold. “Take her and Eric out separately for questioning. Tell each of them that the other one has already confessed.”
The officers were stunned by Nora's commanding presence.
They had never seen this side of Dr. Hayes.
Usually, they all thought of her as cold and aloof, seemingly interested in nothing but autopsies.
No one expected she had this side to her.
“Do as she says.” Seeing the others hesitate, Nathan gave the order.
“Yes, sir.”
The team moved quickly.
Nora stood in front of the monitor, watching with perfect clarity as the two were led away separately and exchanged a look when they passed each other at the end of the hall.
Although Emma quickly lowered her head, trying to get away with it, their exchanged glance was perfectly captured by the high-definition cameras.
After half an hour of interrogation, under the psychological pressure of the professionals, Eric was the first to break and confess.
“I was the one who killed her…”
Another half hour later, Emma also admitted to her involvement in the murder.
Surprisingly, several other people from the factory had also participated in splitting the money.
On the list of names Emma provided, a few were people who had helped Chloe before.
Chloe probably never understood why people who had seemed so nice could completely change in the face of money.
