Riley was confused. "How did you find out?"

"The news of you saving that patient blew up online."

Pierce stared at her intently. "We just got divorced; we aren't enemies. Mrs. Gable is taking care of Alora, so you can't be left alone in the hospital. If I was the one who got hurt, would you just abandon me?"

Seeing that she finally stopped chasing him away, a faint smile touched Pierce's lips. "I bought you dinner, but it's gotten cold. I'll go heat it up for you." He stood up to warm the food.

Sebastian and Franklin walked over from the elevators, catching fragments of gossip from the corridor.

"Remember the massive scandal a while back about the CEO of Landon Enterprises cheating on his wife? I can't believe Dr. Vance is actually Pierce Landon's ex-wife."

"Pierce claimed their marriage was dead a long time ago, but now that they're divorced, the second she gets hurt, he flies all the way from Riverport. He obviously still cares. You think he wants to get back together with her?"
