Pierce immediately stood up and grabbed Beatrice. "Mom, what are you doing?"
Beatrice was livid, her chest heaving violently. She glared at Pierce. "I wondered why you refused to attend the blind date I set up for you tonight. Turns out you were having dinner with this tramp!"
Pierce's face darkened. He lowered his voice. "Mom, stop making a scene. People are watching."
Beatrice glanced around and saw that all the other diners were indeed staring at them. Blinded by rage, she didn't care; in fact, she thought it was perfect. She raised her voice, "Everyone, come look! This is the tramp right here..."
She pointed a manicured finger directly at Riley. "She’s already divorced my son, but she can't bear to let go of her life of luxury, so she shamelessly keeps clinging to him!"
The surrounding crowd immediately started whispering and pointing.
"That's so shameless. They're divorced, and she's still harassing him."
"Didn't you hear the mother? She can't let go of the money. I bet she comes from a poor family."
"Even for money, you shouldn't throw away all human decency, right?"
Caught off guard by the slap, Riley's face burned with pain. By the time she recovered, she had become public enemy number one.
She stood up and glared coldly at Beatrice. "I have never clung to your son!"
Beatrice pointed right at Riley's nose. "I heard it with my own ears just now! You want to get back together with my son, and you're still trying to lie?"
Riley scowled. "I was telling your son that getting back together is absolutely impossible!"
