Pierce didn't have any other options at this point. “Alright, thank you, Sebastian.”
Sebastian stood up. “I'll send you the time and location later.”
“Okay.”
Inside an ordinary apartment.
After hearing Sebastian's plan, Zachary completely lost his mind. He bolted upright from the couch. “Sebastian, how can you force this fake romance on me? If Tessa finds out, she'll kick me out onto the street!”
He began pacing the floor frantically. “No way, absolutely not. I've turned over a new leaf. I can't let my reformed-playboy persona collapse now.”
Sebastian spoke flatly, “I'm just asking you to put on an act. I'll explain everything to Tessa for you.”
“Still no. It ruins my reputation. I'm not taking the fall for you on this.”
Sebastian's piercing gaze locked onto Zachary. “Are you really not going to do it?”
Zachary shook his head firmly. “No.” Guessing what Sebastian was about to do, he proactively grabbed the keys to the motorcycle Sebastian had gifted him last time and tossed them onto the coffee table. “Here, take it back.”
He was bored of driving it anyway.
Sebastian looked at the keys on the table, a faint smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.
Zachary felt a shiver run down his spine. Every time Sebastian smiled that dark, calculating smile, nothing good ever came of it.
Sebastian pulled out his phone.
Zachary's heart started pounding. “Sebastian, who are you calling?”
Sebastian replied effortlessly, “Your mother called me the other day to ask how you were doing. I think it's wrong to hide things from our elders.”
All the color drained from Zachary's face. He hadn't even won Tessa over yet; if that call went through, he and Tessa were completely finished.
He lunged forward, pinning Sebastian's hand down, and forced a massive, strained smile. “I thought about it, and since we're brothers, I should absolutely step up when you're in trouble. Just tell me, how do you want me to act? I'll do whatever you say.”
“Are you sure? I wouldn't want to ruin your pristine reputation.”
Zachary was cursing him out internally, but his face beamed like a sunflower. “It's fine. I didn't have much of a reputation to begin with.”
Sebastian nodded. “Good to know you're aware.”
Zachary: “...”
He was helping the guy out, and Sebastian still had to step on him. Unbelievable.
Sebastian gave a brief rundown of what he needed him to do that night.
Zachary was a bit confused. “Sebastian, wouldn't it just be easier to tell Pierce you'd warn me off? Why go through the trouble of putting on this whole performance?”
“He's not an idiot. Even if I told him I handled it, he wouldn't necessarily believe it. He might even send people to spy on you.”
“Makes sense. If he actually sent people to watch me, I'd definitely slip up. You really think of everything, Sebastian.”
Sebastian stood up, his deep gaze sweeping across the cramped, ordinary apartment. He genuinely hadn't expected the spoiled second young master of the Chambers family to actually survive living here. It seemed Zachary was entirely serious this time.
Unfortunately for him, Tessa York was completely immune to his usual playboy tactics, and she absolutely despised his status as a wealthy heir. He had seriously hit a wall with her.
