Chapter 107
Abigail didn’t back down as she added, “She was always forming in school like she had it all, always acting like she is the righteous one. Now she has lost everything, both her boyfriend and her wealth, so you people should stop being pathetic and dancing around her.”
Everyone gulped, shocked to hear this. They had all assumed Betty was still the daughter of the wealthy man she used to be. That was the reason many of them had been treating her with so much attention and caution. With that realization, the atmosphere shifted instantly. People began to pull back, their expressions changing from conderry to cold indifference.
Betty sniffled quietly. Marcus could see tears forming under her eyelashes, her shoulders slightly trembling. He immediately understood she didn’t want to stay here anymore, not under this kind of humiliation.
Just as Betty was about to stand up and leave, Vera suddenly screamed, “Ohhh… Travis! Look who we have here. It’s Travis!”
Instantly, everyone turned in his direction.
“Wow… it’s really Travis. He still looks as handsome as before.”
“Yeah, he is so handsome. But who is that lady beside him?”
“She is pretty as fuck,” one of the men said openly, unable to hide his admiration.
Another added, “Wow, she looks wealthy too. Look at those jewelry pieces, they are definitely original. Where did Travis bag this lady from?”
Marcus turned around properly this time and saw it was indeed Travis. And beside him was Jessica. Truly, out of everyone in the venue, Jessica stood out the most. There was something about her presence that made people instinctively stare longer than they should.
She smiled softly, and it felt like the entire space brightened for a moment. The ladies immediately started gathering around, some waving, others asking if she was a celebrity, their voices overlapping in excitement.
But Jessica’s smile froze the moment her eyes landed on Marcus. She swallowed hard and looked slightly embarrassed. Travis also noticed him at the same time.
Vera tilted her head and asked, “Travis, who is this lady? Don’t tell me she is your-”
Travis interrupted with a scoff. “Yeah, yeah, she is mine. She is my fiancée.”
Jessica’s eyes widened immediately. She looked stunned and angry at the same time. Travis had told her she would be introduced here as his girlfriend, but he had just called her his fiancée in front of everyone.
Everyone around them reacted instantly.
“Wow… fiancée?”
“You are so lucky, Travis.”
“Is that true?” someone quickly asked Jessica.
All eyes turned to her at once.
Jessica didn’t know what to say. She felt the weight of the stares pressing on her from every side, especially Marcus’s gaze. Speaking the truth here would ruin everything between her and Travis, and maybe even destroy her chances of getting back on stable ground. But at the same time, she didn’t want to embarrass Travis in front of

everyone.
Marcus just scoffed lightly as he watched the scene unfold, his expression unreadable.
Jessica, under pressure, finally forced a small smile. “Actually… we are still looking forward to it.”
The girls around immediately got excited again.
“Wow, that’s so sweet!”
“So it’s really happening!”
Before the excitement could settle, Abigail scoffed loudly. “But don’t you think you are too old for her?”
She tilted her head with a mocking expression. “It’s obvious you are old enough to be her brother.”
Jessica bit her lip, clearly uncomfortable.
Travis immediately chimed in, his tone firm. “And how does that matter? We love each other.”
Then he pulled Jessica closer, wrapping his hand firmly around her waist.
Jessica stiffened at Travis’s touch. She quickly shrugged and pushed his hand away slightly, trying to regain her composure. She was already getting annoyed at Travia audacity.
Marcus suddenly chimed in calmly. “You two look good together, Jessica.”
Jessica gulped the moment she heard that. Her eyes flickered for a second, unsure how to react.
Everyone around them immediately reacted in surprise.
“Wait… you know each other?”
“Since when?”
Travis didn’t want their past history or anything related to their former marriage situation to surface at that moment. He quickly stepped in and said, “They are just friends.”
Jessica swallowed again and nodded quickly. “Yeah… School friends.” She forced a small smile to match her words.
Vera clapped lightly, cutting through the tension. “Okay, okay, that’s so great then. Come on, everyone, let’s sit down and enjoy ourselves.”
Instantly, a waiter approached their table, and everyone was served drinks and food. Chairs scraped softly as they all settled down, the atmosphere slowly shifting back into something that resembled normal conversation. People began chatting and laughing again, though Betty still looked visibly uncomfortable, sitting quietly and withdrawn.
After a moment, Vera leaned forward with excitement. “Uhm.,. have any of you heard about the Synx necklace?”
The table immediately went quiet.
No one seemed to know what she was talking about.
Vera smiled, clearly enjoying the attention. She was into jewelry and even owned a small store, so she liked explaining these things. “It’s a newly developed necklace. The designer discovered rare sapphire-black gemstones and used them to create an exclusive collection.”
Everyone’s eyes widened slightly as they listened.
