The Disguised Billionaire She Rejected novel Chapter 109

Chapter 109

Abigail looked Marcus up and down slowly, her gaze sharp and unimpressed as she saw he was just in a cheap

clothes.

“Please,” she scoffed, lips curling. “You can leave now. No need to pretend you have something to prove just to impress people here.”

Vera’s expression tightened slightly. “Abigail, enough. How do you even know what he can or cannot afford?”

Abigail tilted her head, unfazed. “Look at him. His clothes alone speak. He is probably wearing the cheapest thing in this room.”

A few murmurs spread across the table. Some people shifted in their seats, exchanging uncertain glances. Marcus let out a slow breath, eyes steady on her. “What should happen if I end up buying the necklace?”

The question landed oddly.

For a second, nobody responded. Then Travis let out a short laugh. “Marcus, you really don’t have to embarrass yourself. Just stand up and leave peacefully.”

Jessica frowned immediately at Travis. “Stop talking like that,” she muttered under her breath, clearly irritated.

Abigail waved a hand dismissively. “Yes Travis, he doesn’t even know what he is saying. He is bluffing. Just leave already.”

Betty moved slightly closer to Marcus, her fingers brushing his sleeve like she wanted to pull him up. “Marcus, we should just go.”

But Marcus did not move.

“I would like to stay,” he said simply.

That one line shifted the energy again.

Jessica finally leaned in, her tone colder. “Just so we are clear, this isn’t about swiping cards. It’s an online order. You understand what that means, right?”

It was not a question that needed an answer. It sounded more like a warning. Marcus understood jessica, because she thought, he had stole the card.

Marcus gave a faint smirk. “I know.”

Betty exhaled slowly. She knew Jessica from before, and that alone made this worse. It was like they were surrounded with enemy.

Vera clapped her hands once, breaking the tension. “Alright then. No backing out once the amount is called. Whoever wins will be treated like royalty for the rest of the night.”

Excited voices returned instantly.

“Call it already.”

“Yes, let’s see who is who.”

“This is getting interesting.”

Vera smiled faintly, letting the anticipation build. Her eyes moved across the table one last time, making sure everyone was fully locked in.

Marcus remained still, expression unreadable.

Betty sat tense beside him, watching his face like she was trying to understand what game Marcus was playing

Abigail folded her arms, confidence returning in full. She looked almost satisfied already, like the outcome had been written.

The room went quiet again.

Vera’s voice cut through the silence, clear and deliberate.

“It’s 5.2 million dollars.”

Everyone went dead silent.

Vera looked across the table slowly, letting her words settle into the silence like a heavy weight.

Her eyes moved from face to face and no one dared interrupt her. Then she repeated it again, clearer this time.

“Five point two million dollars.”

A low wave of murmurs broke instantly around the room.

People leaned toward each other, whispering in disbelief, hands covering mouths, heads shaking as though they had misheard her the first time.

Abigail was the first to snap out of the shock.

“Five point two?” she repeated sharply. “You really mean that? How is that even possible? For just an ordinary necklace? Are you serious right now?”

Her voice rose with each question, disbelief turning into frustration.

Around the table, others began recalculating everything in their heads. The number refused to make sense. Some frowned, others stared at Vera’s phone like it might suddenly change the amount.

Vera remained calm, almost enjoying their reaction.

“It is not just an ordinary necklace,” she said. “It is embedded with black sapphire. That is why it is priced like that. And it is also a limited edition piece.”

She paused, then added lightly, “I told you all already. You cannot afford it.”

That last line landed harder than the price itself.

Abigail bit down on her lower lip, her confidence cracking slightly. In her mind, she had expected something high, maybe under two million at most. Even then, she would have treated it as an investment, something she could resell later.

But five point two million was different. That was beyond her networth. Even her husband would never release that kind of money for a necklace.

She swallowed hard and muttered, “This is ridiculous.”

Vera turned the phone slightly, showing the listing again, the price glowing clearly on the screen for everyone to

see.

Travis let out a slow breath, leaning back in his chair. “Jessica… can you buy it?”

Jessica blinked at him like he had just asked something insane.

“Are you kidding me?” she said flatly. “No. I am not spending that kind of money on a necklace.”

She crossed her arms tighter. She did have the money, but spending it just to prove a point in a childish game was not something she was willing to do. And deep down, she also believed no one in this room was going to do it

anyway.

Travis nodded slowly and turned back to Vera. “Yeah… I think that’s beyond everyone here.”

Vera sighed softly, almost disappointed. “I told you all. It is over budget. Looks like there is no winner then.”
