Chapter 113
Marcus could only sigh as he stared at Jessica. The taxi still hadn’t arrived and after everything that had happened that night, he really wasn’t in the mood for another argument.
“Talk about what?” he asked.
Jessica folded her arms. “We need to talk.”
Sensing the tension between them, Betty glanced at Marcus and quietly excused herself. “I’ll give you two some space.”
Once she left, the silence between them grew heavier. Jessica brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and let out a long breath as if gathering everything she had been holding in.
“When should I even start?”
Marcus didn’t respond.
Jessica lifted her gaze and locked onto him. “First, I can’t believe you’re this much of a womanizer.”
Marcus raised an eyebrow. “What?”
“First it was Julia. Then you moved on to Ms. Natalie. Now this bitch.”
The word hit the air and Marcus’s expression darkened instantly.
“Hey.”
“What?”
“Watch what you’re saying. She isn’t a bitch.”
Jessica let out a short, bitter laugh. “Then what is your deal? Why do you keep jumping from one woman to another?”
Marcus gave a faint smirk, almost tired of the conversation. “That’s none of your business.”
That only made her more irritated. Jessica clenched her fingers slightly, trying to steady herself. “Is that why you’re refusing to get back together? Because you enjoy this stupid freedom of running around with women?”
“If that’s all you wanted to say, then maybe I should go,” Marcus replied, already turning away.
“And another thing,” Jessica quickly added.
Marcus stopped again.
She stared at him now, her voice sharpening. “Where are you getting all this money from?”
That question had been burning in her mind all night, refusing to settle. The image of the necklace, the delivery, the amount-everything refused to add up.
“You don’t own a company. You don’t run a business. As far as I know, you’re just a sales manager. So how are you spending this much money?”
Her voice rose slightly. “Five point six million dollars, Marcus. That’s insane.”
Marcus looked at her for a long moment, unreadable. “What I do has nothing to do with you.”

Jessica shook her head immediately. “No. Something isn’t right.”

She stepped closer now, lowering her voice but tightening her words. “I’m sure you’re involved in something illegal.”
Marcus’s eyes narrowed.
“Drug trafficking. Organ trafficking. Something,” she added quickly, as if trying to force the truth out of him.
“Look, you can still back out,” she added. “Whatever this is, it will catch up with you if you don’t stop.”
For a few seconds, Marcus said nothing. He simply stared at her as if weighing whether she was even worth a
response.
Then he turned and walked away. saying nothing.
Jessica stood still, watching his figure fade.
A few moments later, Travis approached from behind.
“You should stay away from him,” he said immediately. “As soon as possible.”
Jessica didn’t answer at first.
Travis shook his head. “Think about it. No normal person just drops 5.6 million like that.”
He paused, then added, “Or maybe Ms. Natalie is laundering Langstone’s money and giving it to him.”
Jessica’s eyes widened slightly at the thought. It didn’t sound impossible. Natalie’s strange devotion to Marcus… her attitude… the way she didn’t even care if he was seeing another woman..
Slowly, Jessica nodded. “You’re right.”
A sharper look settled in her eyes. “I’ll have someone investigate him.”
Travis smiled faintly. “Good. I’ll follow him too. His luck won’t last forever.”
Feeling satisfied, he slid an arm around her waist. “Come on, babe. Let’s go.”
Jessica immediately pushed his hand away.
“Hey.”
Her stare was cold now. “You’re misunderstanding something.”
“What?”
“We are not in any special relationship. Okay?”
Travis froze.
Jessica didn’t soften. “This whole thing tonight was an act. And it ends here.”
Her voice dropped lower, sharper. “And don’t ever do that thing you did inside again.”
“What thing?”
“Calling me your fiancée.”
Travis’s expression shifted instantly. “If you do that again, I’ll cut ties with you.”

The words landed heavy.
“But-“Travis started.
“No buts.”
A beat of silence followed.
Then he lowered his head. “Okay… I’m sorry.”
His tone softened quickly. “I just wanted to show off. If you didn’t like it, you should’ve said so. We would’ve left.”
Jessica bit her lip, conflict flickering across her face. feeling she had go overboard. The truth was that her anger outburst was because of Marcus.
She exhaled slowly.
“I’m sorry… I just…” Her voice trailed off as she shook her head, feeling the weight of everything she couldn’t properly explain. “I am just sorry”
After a pause, she pointed back toward the restaurant. “Wait here. I need to use the restroom. I’ll be right back.”
She gave him a quick hug and turned away, walking back inside.
The moment she disappeared through the entrance, Travis’s apologetic expression vanished completely.
A slow, knowing smirk returned to his face.
Jessica reached the restroom area, and ease herself
After that, she moved to the sink, turned on the tap, and splashed cold water on her face.
She stared at her reflection in the mirror, gripping the edges of the sink slightly tighter.
“I’ll find out where he’s getting the money from first,” she muttered under her breath. Her eyes narrowed as the thought sharpened into something more determined. “And when I do, I’ll have something to control him with.”
A faint, satisfied breath left her lips. She was so determined Marcus was doing a crime.
Then she straightened her clothes and turned toward the exit. She was just about to leave the restroom area when she slowed down.
A voice came from inside one of the closed stalls.
A man’s voice. what could a man doing in female section.
