Chapter 119
Meanwhile, outside, Julia broke down and started weeping.
She looked completely fed up as tears poured down her face. “Why can’t they just leave me alone?” she cried. ” Why are they doing this to me?”
Marcus sighed and pulled her into his arms, letting her cry against him. He gently rubbed her back and said, ” Everything will be okay. They will come crawling back to you. They will look for you desperately, I can assure you that.”
Julia only sniffled, not believing him at all. To her, Marcus was just trying to comfort her. How could they possibly come running back when they already had Sancho and were all smiling over the deal with his family? It didn’t make sense.
She pulled back slightly and wiped her tears. “I’m sorry,” she said in a small voice. “I’m really sorry for dragging you into all this stress and trouble.”
Marcus scoffed lightly. “It’s nothing.”
hen he looked at her and asked, “Do you even have anywhere to go right now?”
Julia sniffled again before nodding weakly. “I’ll just stay in a hotel for now until I rent an apartment. I’ll focus on my career as a teacher. That’s what I really want anyway.”.
Marcus smiled faintly at that. “Come on. I’ll drive you there. You are not in the right state to be moving around alone.”
Julia didn’t argue. She simply nodded and followed him.
After some minutes, they arrived at a hotel. Marcus walked her inside and stayed with her at the reception while she booked a room. He wanted to know where she was staying so he could easily check on her later if he needed to.
They had just stepped away from the receptionist when they nearly collided with someone.
Jessica.
She stopped short the moment she saw them together, then folded her arms with a scoff.
“Wow, Marcus,” she said mockingly. “So this is who you are with now? Just yesterday you spent the night with a different woman. Betty, right? And now you are in a hotel with Julia. You are really fucking around. Aren’t you scared of catching an STD?”
Marcus was about to snap back, but then he remembered that she had saved his life the night before. So instead, he held back and said, “About yesterday… thank you. You saved my life.”
Jessica scoffed and rolled her eyes. “I’ll need more than that as thanks. I’ll call you when I need something.”
Then her expression turned serious. “But Marcus, for your own sake, tell me the truth. How much did you borrow? Tell me, and I might pay it off for you.”
Marcus frowned. “You are misunderstanding things.”
“Misunderstanding?” Jessica repeated, then turned to Julia at once. “Look, all those expensive rings and things he bought for you, he got them from a loan shark. And now he can’t pay, so they want to kill him and probably sell his organs. If not for me yesterday, he would have died.”
Julia looked shocked and turned to Marcus, clearly wondering if any of that was true.

Jessica continued before Marcus could speak. “And you should be ashamed too. If I were you, I would return everything he bought me so he could pay back his debt and stop dragging everyone down. He is literally cheating on you with Natalie Langstone and that Betty girl from yesterday, and now he’s here in a hotel with you too
Julia sighed, looking exhausted already. She felt a pain in her heart.
Marcus’s expression hardened. “Stop saying things you don’t understand and focus on yourself. You don’t even know what’s going on under your own roof.
Jessica frowned immediately. “What are you even talking about?”
Marcus looked at her, ready to tell her about Travis and her mother.
“You-”
Just then, a voice suddenly called out.
“Daughter!”
Another voice shouted right after.
“Jessica!”
It was Travis and Mrs. Morgan.
Marcus saw the two of them and sighed to himself.
“Talking about the devil,” he muttered under his breath.
Mrs. Morgan and Travis finally reached them, but the moment their eyes landed on Marcus standing beside Julia, both of their expressions darkened immediately.
Mrs. Morgan folded her arms and looked at Jessica first. “I hope this fool has at least shown you proper gratitude for saving his life.”
Jessica had already told them what happened the previous night, so there was no surprise on their faces.
Jessica shrugged. “Not really.”
Travis let out a mocking scoff and looked Marcus up and down with open disgust. “If it were me, I would have left you to die,” he said coldly. “You betrayed Jessica, started womanizing all over the place, and you’re out throwing money you borrowed from loan sharks just to impress women. Someone like you really deserves whatever is coming to him.”
Mrs. Morgan clicked her tongue in irritation and added sharply, “A stupid lowlife. Shameless boy.”
Jessica actually laughed, like the whole thing amused her.
Marcus had been one second away from exposing everything right there, from telling Jessica exactly what was going on behind her back with Travis and her mother, but the moment he saw the way Jessica laughed with them, something in him cooled.
