Chapter 138
Eden placed the exquisite ceramic vase gently on the center table. It had delicate scriptures etched along its gracefully curved body, adorned with subtle blue and gold patterns that blended seamlessly into an elegant yet understated design.
The vase shimmered faintly under the chandelier light, its surface smooth and refined, but by the look of it, no one would guess its extraordinary value, it resembled any tasteful decorative piece one might find in upscale homes, unassuming at first glance.
“This is a limited edition piece by a renowned artist,” Eden said casually, his voice carrying quiet confidence. “It is worth three million dollars. I give you this as a gift.”
Everyone popped their eyes wide open in sheer disbelief. “What the fuck?” one uncle muttered under his breath
“What the hell? A three million dollar vase as a gift?” Whispers of astonishment rippled through the room as eyes darted between the vase and the generous giver.
Mrs. Alfred leaned forward, her face lighting up with genuine admiration. “Wow… you have such good taste and a way to impress. I am telling you that you have already got everyone’s approval.”
Mr. Alfred chuckled heartily, his eyes twinkling with satisfaction. “This is what I am saying! Bringing home someone worthy as a fiancée. I am the most happiest man today.”
Julia sat stiffly, inwardly seething as she sensed they were indirectly abusing her own efforts and ambitions with every complimentary word directed at Eden. It felt like a pointed comparison.
Victoria and Eden sat down comfortably on the plush sofa as the family continued to shower him with praise.” Such a successful young man,” one aunt gushed enthusiastically.
“OptimaCorp leading the entire construction industry-truly remarkable achievements at such a young age”.
Mrs. Lena was there in the background, boiling with silent anger. She knew precisely how this would play out, and intense jealousy burned deep in her chest. Victoria had brought someone so immensely wealthy and worthy home, while her own daughter Julia was desperately fighting for recognition, tied down with an orphan who offered none of these advantages. The contrast stung bitterly.
Mr. Alfred offered him premium drinks, raising a glass in warm welcome. After the extended toasts, pleasantries, and light conversation that filled the room with laughter, Mr. Alfred coughed lightly, signaling the shift. Victoria knew exactly what that meant. She turned to Eden with a sweet, affectionate smile. “Babe. About the partnership I told you about. Can you help us with it?”
Eden scoffed lightly in a confident manner and nodded without hesitation. “The Langstone partnership? I can certainly help. In fact, let me tell you something-the Langstone family is rolling out a new project soon, and it’s a big one. The projected profit is fifty million dollars. I will make sure your company gets it.”
Everyone gasped audibly, the room filling with excited murmurs. Mr. Alfred leaned forward intently. “Really?”
Eden nodded with absolute confidence. “One hundred percent sure. I have a good history with the Langstones. Also, your family will be one of my company’s biggest collaborators moving forward. So you are very well okay.”
Hearing this, everyone was surprised and felt profoundly impressed by his connections and generosity. Victoria chimed in proudly, beaming at her boyfriend, “I told you he is capable of doing anything.”
Eden continued smoothly, locking eyes with Mr. Alfred, “I will give you anything you want as long as you make my babe the COO of your company. She told me how ambitious she is and she wants it.”

That was when Julia scoffed, knowing where this is heading.
Mr. Alfred then said with all this, “I can in fact tell you, she is already the COO.” Then he brought out the file and said, “I will sign her name here right now and she will be the COO. And will be there as long as you fulfill your promise.”
Eden scoffed lightly and replied, “That easy.”
Mr. Alfred wanted to begin signing it, that was when Julia angrily stood up and said, “What are you doing, Grandfather? You are making her the COO after the promise you made with me?”
Mr. Alfred frowned. “Hey Julia, watch what you say. We have a visitor. Don’t embarrass us.”
Julia scoffed. “You call me back to this family to get you the partnership and after our promise and everything, you fail to keep it.”
Mrs. Alfred was angry and said, “Will you just shut up? Yes, we called you back and that makes you gas yourself up, and started giving us ridiculous conditions. You thought we won’t do well without you? Oh dear, we can do much better.”
Mr. Alfred said, “Julia, you know I cherish you, so I will give you the sales manager position you were before. You are doing a great job there.”
Julia screamed, “No, this is unfair!”
Then Victoria chimed in. “Are you getting jealous of me? You don’t deserve to be the COO in the first place if not for the Sancho’s issues. You brought in a lowlife man, nobody, no background man and you want us to accept it.”
Mrs. Alfred chimed in. “Yes. She is right. Just look at who Victoria brought home. A worthy man while you are keeping around that your trash.”
