Chapter 164

Marcus remained silent for a few seconds, his grip around the phone tightening. His eyes gradually turned colder as he stared ahead, his expression becoming unreadable. Finally, he spoke in a calm but dangerous voice.
“Okay. Just don’t touch her.”
He paused briefly before adding, “Send me the location.”
Six chuckled from the other end. “Good.”
The call ended immediately.
Marcus slowly lowered the phone and released a long breath. His eyes narrowed as countless thoughts raced through his mind. He knew there was no avoiding this battle anymore. Today would determine whether everything he had learned was enough. After absorbing the energy contained within the gemstone, he could/ clearly feel the tremendous increase in strength flowing through his body. Every breath carried far more power than before. Still, he wasn’t arrogant enough to believe victory was guaranteed. Six had defeated him once already. Whether things would end differently this time… only the battle itself could answer.
After calming himself, Marcus slipped the phone back into his pocket and returned to the living room.
Julia immediately noticed the change in his expression.
The smile on her face slowly faded.
She walked toward him with concern written all over her face.
“Mmm… what happened?”
Marcus forced out a faint smile. “I have to leave for a while.”
Julia blinked. “Leave?”
She studied his face more carefully before speaking again.
“What’s wrong? I hope it isn’t something terrible. You look… concerned.”
Marcus quickly shook his head. “It’s nothing serious.”
He tried to sound as relaxed as possible. “It’s just something related to work. I’ll take care of it and be back soon.”
Julia wasn’t convinced. She could tell he was hiding something, but she also knew Marcus wasn’t someone who spoke unless he wanted to.
After a brief silence, she sighed softly. “Okay.”
She forced a smile despite the worry in her heart. “But promise me one thing. If anything goes wrong… call me immediately.”
Marcus smiled gently. “I will.”
Julia finally nodded. “Be careful.”
Marcus gave one last reassuring smile before turning around and walking toward the entrance.
Julia remained standing in the middle of the luxurious living room, silently watching his figure disappear through the front door. She bit her lower lip gently, disappointment flashing across her face.

The words she had gathered all her courage to confess…
Once again remained unsaid.

Instead of heading directly to the location Six had sent, Marcus first drove toward the Langstone residence.
A few minutes later, he was sitting across from Natalie inside one of the private lounges.
After listening to everything that had happened, Natalie’s expression became extremely serious.
“I’m coming with you,” she said without hesitation. “I’ll bring some of our men, and we’ll deal with him together.
Marcus immediately shook his head.
“No.”
Natalie frowned.
“Why not?”
Marcus leaned back slightly before answering.
“Because it’s too dangerous.”
He continued calmly.
“First, Six is an experienced cultivator and an extremely skilled fighter. Second, the elderly woman’s life is already hanging by a thread. If he notices we’re bringing reinforcements, he may kill her before we even arrive.”
Marcus continued. “I’ve already absorbed the gemstone’s power. I should have enough strength to defeat him.”
Natalie looked unconvinced.
She wanted to argue further, but Marcus had already made up his mind.
Knowing she couldn’t change it, she stood up and walked into another room.
A few moments later, she returned carrying a long wooden case.
She gently placed it on the table before opening it.
Inside rested a beautifully crafted sword of medium length.
Its black scabbard was engraved with elegant golden patterns, while the hilt was wrapped in dark leather with a silver dragon carved around the guard.
Natalie carefully lifted it before handing it to Marcus.
“This belonged to Father. Mr. Langstone,” she said quietly. “He carried it during his fighting years.”
Marcus accepted it with both hands.
“It was forged using a rare spiritual alloy,” Natalie continued. “That material naturally synchronizes with a cultivator’s aura, allowing spiritual energy to flow through the blade much more efficiently. If the cultivator truly intends to kill you, he won’t come unarmed.”

She looked Marcus straight in the eye. “And neither should you.”
Marcus slowly drew the blade from its scabbard.
A clear metallic ring echoed through the room.
The polished edge reflected the light brilliantly, while a faint wave of energy seemed to resonate the instant his hand wrapped firmly around the hilt.
