Chapter 202

Mr. Jace and Hades both frowned as they heard Marcus’s words, and for a moment, neither of them seemed to know how to react. Hades squinted his eyes as he stared at Marcus, and then a memory suddenly flashed through his mind, taking him back to that night when they had gone after Edward Langstone.

He remembered the young man who had appeared out of nowhere and fought them, and at the time, Hades had simply assumed he was an ordinary bodyguard protecting Edward. He had never imagined that the man standing before him was actually Edward’s son.

Hades’s expression changed as he muttered, “It was you.” Marcus slowly turned his eyes toward him, though he said nothing.

Hades clenched his jaw as he continued staring at him. “You were the one who interfered that night. I thought you were just some useless bodyguard.”

Mr. Jace suddenly scoffed, though there was a strange look in his eyes as he examined Marcus from head to toe. Wow. You really are. I can see the resemblance now”

Marcus narrowed his eyes.

Jace nodded slowly, and a faint smile appeared on his face. “You really are just like your father. I have to admit, I’m a little shocked.”

He leaned closer, his eyes filled with disbelief. “So your father was that rich, yet you were living such a poor life, fighting for those stupid community people? How pathetic.”

Hades immediately stepped forward, his expression becoming impatient. “Sir, forget all this. We need to kill him. He’s already proven to be a threat, and keeping him alive is dangerous.”

Jace raised his hand, stopping him, though his expression had become much more serious.

He looked directly at Marcus and took a slow breath. “There is only one reason I won’t kill you right now, and that is if you tell me where the Book of Life is.”

Marcus’s eyes narrowed.

The Book of Life?

He had never heard of such a thing, but the moment Jace mentioned it, something suddenly clicked in his mind.

He remembered the condition of his father’s house after the murder, and how almost everything had been turned upside down. They hadn’t simply gone there to kill his father.

They had been searching for something.

And now Marcus finally understood what they had been looking for.

The Book of Life. But why was it so important?

Marcus stared at Jace without saying a word, though his mind was racing as he tried to understand what kind of secret his father had been hiding.

Jace’s expression hardened. “I’m giving you a chance to live, Marcus. If you tell me where the book is, I’ll let you walk out of here alive.”

Marcus continued glaring at him.

Jace’s voice became colder. “But if you refuse, I swear I’ll kill you right here.”

Marcus wanted to fight back, but his cultivation power was still sealed, and the restraints around his body prevented him from doing much of anything. Even so, he refused to lower his head, and his silence made it clear that he had no intention of cooperating.

Jace’s eyes narrowed. “You won’t tell me?”

Marcus scoffed, “I don’t even fucking know what that’s it”.

Hades suddenly stepped forward and pulled out his gun, raising it until the barrel was pressed directly against Marcus’s forehead.

“Lets kill him already.”

Jace slowly nodded, his expression turning cold as he realized Marcus would never give him the information he wanted. “Fine,” he said quietly, taking a step back. “Kill him”

Hades smirked as he tightened his grip on the gun and pressed the barrel firmly against Marcus’s forehead. “Say my greetings to Six,” he said, his finger slowly moving toward the trigger. “You’re about to join him.”

Just as Hades was about to pull the trigger, the door suddenly opened with a loud bang, making everyone in the room turn toward the entrance.

A mysterious figure dressed entirely in black walked into the room, wearing tight-fitting clothing and a helmet that completely concealed her face. From her slim figure and movements, it was obvious that she was a woman, though nobody could identify her.

Jace immediately frowned. “Who the fuck is this?”

The men surrounding the room instantly raised their weapons and pointed them at the mysterious woman, ready to shoot if she made even the slightest wrong move. However, she didn’t stop walking, and instead of showing any sign of fear, she calmly raised a gun and pointed it directly at Marcus.

Everyone froze.

Hades slowly moved out of her way, and Jace did the same, though both men continued watching her carefully. Neither of them understood why she would walk into a room full of armed men only to point her weapon at the very man they were about to kill.

“What the hell is she doing?” Hades muttered.

Then- Bang!

A projectile shot from the woman’s weapon and flew directly toward Marcus, striking him in the chest.

Everyone’s eyes widened. Marcus’s body jerked against the chair as the projectile hit him directly over his heart, and for several seconds, nobody moved.

Jace stared at him in confusion. “What…?”

Hades’s expression changed as he looked at the mysterious woman, and then at Marcus’s chest.

“That wasn’t a bullet,” he muttered.

It was a syringe. The moment the realization hit them, Marcus suddenly snapped his eyes open.

The serum suppressing his cultivation power wore off instantly, and a surge of energy immediately rushed

through his body.

His restraints didn’t stand a chance. With frightening speed, Marcus broke free from the chair, moved forward, and grabbed the gun from Jace’s clothing before anyone could react. In the blink of an eye, he had the weapon pressed against Jace’s head.

Everyone froze.

Hades’s face turned pale. The entire thing had happened so quickly that none of them had even seen Marcus move,

Meanwhile, the mysterious woman calmly reached up and removed her helmet, allowing her long hair to fall around her shoulders.

She smiled. It was Natalie.

What she shot was the antidote.

Marcus glanced at her briefly before turning his attention back to Jace.

Hades immediately raised his gun again. “How dare you!” he shouted. “You must really want your fiancée dead! Drop that gun right now, or she is going to die!”

Marcus’s expression remained cold.

Jace quickly joined in, realizing the situation was slipping out of their control. “Yeah, Marcus. Don’t forget about your wife. Hades has men watching her, and one phone call is all it takes.”

Hades immediately pulled out his phone and called one of his men, intending to prove that Julia was still under

his control.

The call didn’t connect. His eyebrows immediately furrowed.
