The Disguised Billionaire She Rejected novel Chapter 22

chapter 22

Back at the banquet, the atmosphere had finally started to settle.

Guests returned to their conversations in lower voices. At that moment Marcus eyes caught the rooftop of the next building, and could saw some shadows. He frowned, he was about to get concentrated when someone called him from behind.

“Marcus.”

He turned.

Julia was walking toward him.

Dressed in a fitted outfit that made heads turn without her even trying. Talking of beauty,Julia would supparsed Natalie.

Jordan walked slightly behind her like someone trying too hard to stay relevant in a space that didn’t belong to him.

Jordan had already apologized earlier for what happened with Julia and had managed to bring her here with him. Julia, wanting to attend the event but didn’t have invitation, used that opportunity and came

along.

Julia smiled as she reached Marcus and shook his hand. Marcus returned the handshake.

Jordan stood slightly behind, fuming quietly. Julia had refused to hold his hand when they entered, yet she had no issue greeting Marcus with handshake. That made him more irritated.

Marcus inquired, “Oh, what are you doing here”.

Julia replied, “I came with jordan”.

Then she turned to Jordan. “This is Marcus. Come and apologize properly to him.”

Jordan’s jaw tightened, but he forced himself so he could be in Julia’s grace. He stepped forward and said, “Sorry mate, about this afternoon. It was a misunderstanding.”

Marcus knew the apology wasn’t fully genuine, but he still nodded. “It’s okay.”

Jordan’s eyes narrowed slightly. Then he asked, “How did you come in here? This place is for elite people.”

It was a clear indirect insult to Marcus.

Marcus only replied calmly, “Soon you will understand.”

Julia and Marcus then shared a light half-hug. Julia smiled and said she would see him later.

This made Jordan even more angry. Julia then turned to Jordan, “I want to check around and mingle. when the banquet finished. let meet here”.

Just like that, Julia left.

Jordan stood still for a moment, realizing clearly that Julia had used him just to enter the event. His face hardened.

Then he signaled one of his bodyguards who was standing at a distance. The bodyguard moved closer.

Jordan said, “I want to mess that guy up. I want to embarrass him publicly. That foolish lowlife.” pointing at marcus.

The bodyguard smirked and replied, “Simple. I know what we will do. We will slip a stolen item into his pocket, then call him a thief. If the item is found with him, he is finished.”

Jordan immediately became interested. “Can you do it?”

The bodyguard nodded confidently. “I’m perfect. Don’t worry.”

Jordan said, “I will raise your salary 2x, if you can do it.”

The bodyguard smirked again, then walked away.

The bodyguard moved exactly as he had planned.

He walked through the crowd with calm steps, acting like nothing mattered. Then, he slightly bumped into a woman standing near the side. It looked accidental.

“Sorry,” he said briefly without even turning his face properly, then continued walking.

But in that brief moment, he had already done it.

He had taken the woman’s diamond ring from her finger.

He didn’t pause. He didn’t look back. He simply moved forward, blending into the crowd.

A few seconds later, he moved closer to Marcus.

The movement was smooth. No hesitation. No visible sign of anything wrong. And in that exact moment, he slipped the ring into Marcus’s trouser pocket.

Then he walked away again as if nothing had happened.

From a distance, Jordan saw everything.

A slow smile formed on his face.

“Wow,” he muttered under his breath. “He is fucking expert.”

The bodyguard returned calmly to Jordan’s side.

Jordan looked at him. “That fucking smooth. so, What now?”

The bodyguard said, “Wait boss. The lady will notice soon.”

At that same time, Julia had returned to Marcus again.

She looked at him and said, “Well, I haven’t asked… how did you get here? As far as I remember, this is

only for top class people. If not for Jordan, I wouldn’t even be here.”

Marcus smiled slightly, about to reply.

But before he could speak, a sudden scream cut through the hall.

“Yaaaaa! My diamond ring! My diamond ring!”

The entire atmosphere shifted instantly.

People stopped talking as they turned to the sound.

Eyes moved toward the source of the shout as confusion spread across the hall.

“What happened?”

“What’s wrong?”

The woman raised her hand, shaking slightly.

“I had a diamond ring on my middle finger. I can’t see it anymore! I felt it on my hand just moments ago!”

Someone in the crowd tried to calm her down. “Maybe it slipped off somewhere.”

Another person added, “Or maybe you didn’t even bring it.”

The woman immediately shook her head. “That ring has a diamond worth 200,000 dollars! It cannot just slip away. I am very sure I brought it.”

The tension in the room increased.

“Then how did it disappear?” someone asked.

The woman looked around helplessly. “I… I can’t even imagine.”

At that moment, Jordan stepped forward slightly and chimed in.

“What if someone stole it?”

A wave of noise spread through the crowd.

“Impossible,” someone said quickly. “This place is full of elite and rich people. A ring like that means nothing here. No one would steal it.”

Others nodded in agreement.
