Marcus smirked slightly, looking at Jordan as if the accusation was too childish to even take seriously.

“What the heck are you talking about?” Marcus said calmly.

Jordan immediately stepped forward, raising his voice. “Well, they are asking if a lowlife could be here, and you are one!”

A wave of murmurs spread through the crowd.

Some people in the hall suddenly looked at Marcus more carefully. A few faces changed as recognition

hit them.

One man spoke from the side, hesitating. “No…. that’s Ms. Natalie’s partner, I think. Don’t offend him.”

Another nodded quickly. “Yes, yes, I’ve seen him with Ms. Natalie. He can’t be that kind of person.”

But Jordan didn’t back down. He frowned deeply, clearly irritated that people were defending Marcus and he didn’t understand how Marcus could be partner to the Almighty Ms. Natalie!.

“Don’t be deceived,” he said loudly. “Do you know this man has a scandal involving stealing gold from his engaged fiancée’s mother?”

The moment he said that, the crowd erupted.

“What!”

“Really? When did that happen?”

People leaned in, interested now. Then they recalled the trend then. Some who only half-understood the situation immediately latched onto it.

“Yeah, I think I have heard something like that,” someone added.

“It’s him. The live-in husband. That useless fellow.”

Another voice joined in quickly. “What if the other couples here know something? Maybe he is truly a horrible person and just a scammer, a con man.”

“And who knows,” someone else said, “maybe Ms. Natalie is even a victim.”

The murmurs grew louder, spreading like fire.

“Yeah, yeah, that actually makes sense.”

“I heard he is an orphan too. How could someone like Ms. Natalie even be with him? Something is definitely fishy.”

Jordan watched all of it unfold and smiled slowly. The crowd was now bending exactly how he wanted.

He lifted his chin slightly. “So… where is the ring?”

Before things could settle, Julia stepped forward immediately.

“What are you doing, Jordan?” she said sharply. “You can’t just accuse him blindly. Know what you are doing.”

Jordan turned to her, his tone calmer but firm. “Teacher, please just leave his side. It will be bad seeing you associated with someone like him. Come here to me.”

Julia’s eyes widened in anger. “Shut up, Jordan!” she snapped. “What are you even insinuating? I have known Marcus for long. He would never steal anything! You better stop this right now.”

A nearby woman who had lost the ring immediately looked at Julia.

“Hey lady,” she said coldly. “Who are you? Are you also one of the ladies he wanted to scam?”

Julia clenched her fists. “That’s not true! Marcus wouldn’t do that”

The woman continued harshly. “I wonder how he is even doing it. He already related go 3 women this night alone, anyway. just move away or else you will regret it.”

Julia looked ready to argue again, but Marcus gently placed a hand in front of her, stopping her.

“Calm down,” he said quietly.

Julia hesitated but stayed back, still glaring at the crowd.

Jordan smirked slightly, enjoying the pressure building.

At the same time, Marcus looked around the hall, his expression unchanged. Natalie was not present, and even some of the security guards were missing, They were preparing for Mr. Edward Langstone’s

arrival.

Marcus finally spoke, his voice steady. “Listen, I don’t know anything about any ring. And I did not take it.”

The woman stepped forward immediately, her face tight with anger.

“Oh really?” she said. “I heard you are an orphan, poor, not even better than a beggar. Is that true?”

A few people in the crowd reacted again, feeding off the tension.

Marcus gave a faint smile at that insult. He didn’t raise his voice, didn’t show anger.

He simply said, “Just know this… I didn’t take your ring.”

Jordan pointed at Marcus with a sharp glare, his voice rising over the murmurs in the hall.

“Tell us,” he said. “Why should we take any word from a lowlife, a pauper like you say anything? You took it, and I’m sure about it!”

Marcus looked at him calmly, not moving an inch.

“You are so confident,” Marcus said quietly. “Did you see me doing it?”

Jordan scoffed immediately. “If you didn’t steal it, then who else?”

Marcus’ eyes hardened slightly. “Accuse me blindly once again and I will punch your nose off.”

Jordan laughed like he was not threatened at all. “I stand my ground. You fucking stole it.”

At that, Marcus stepped forward suddenly, his presence shifting as if he was ready to fight.

But before anything could happen, Jordan’s bodyguard quickly moved in. He grabbed Marcus by the arm

and shoved him back.

The force made Marcus step back slightly.

A wave of gasps moved through the crowd.
