chapter 25
Julia angrily yelled back at Jordan.
“This isn’t what we agreed on,” she said sharply. “You said we would find it in his pocket, and we didn’t.”
Jordan’s jaw tightened. “That doesn’t invalidate what I said. I saw him put it in his pocket. I’m very sure he took it. who knows if he already threw it away”
Marcus let out a small scoff. Then he said calmly, “You know… what if I told you I actually know who stole the ring?”
The hall fell into confused silence.
“What is he saying?”
“Are they joking with us?”
Jordan waved a hand dismissively. “Don’t be fooled. He’s trying to shift things away from himself.”
The ring owner groaned in frustration. “I’m tired of this already. If this is some kind of joke, stop it.”
Marcus looked at her. “Why would I joke about this?”
Then he slowly raised his hand and pointed.
Straight at Jordan’s bodyguard.
“He stole it. He was the one who bumped into you and clearly the one who took the ring.”
A loud gasp erupted.
“What!”
“Where is this turning to?”
Jordan stared in disbelief. “What? My own bodyguard? My bodyguard?? Just shut up already. Why would my bodyguard do such a thing?”
Marcus smirked slightly. “Who would know? I’m just telling people my own version.”
Jordan snapped, “If you knew all along, why didn’t you say it earlier? You are just shifting things!”
“I just wanted you to finish all your fooling,” Marcus replied calmly. “Your bodyguard stole it, and I’m sure it’s in his pocket.”
Jordan opened his mouth to argue, but a voice suddenly cut through the crowd.
“Here! Here! I think my video recording caught something!”
All heads turned.

It was a teenage girl holding up her phone nervously. She had been recording for TikTok earlier.
“I was recording some moments ago,” she said. “I think I captured something about the collusion”.
Everyone immediately gathered around to watched the video.
She played it.
The screen showed the exact moment Jordan’s bodyguard collided with the lady. The bump was clear and it showed his face clearly. so he was no doubt the one.
People leaned in.
They were shocked to this and started whispering.
“Ohh… it’s true.”
“He was the one who bumped into her.”
“What the heck!”
Jordan’s bodyguard’s face turned stiff.
The mood in the hall shifted instantly.
The old lady pointed at Jordan. “But you said you saw him bump into me, when it was your bodyguard!”
Jordan’s lips trembled. “I… I swear I saw him.”
Marcus tilted his head. “Do you have eye problems now?”
Jordan gulped. “Him bumping into her doesn’t mean anything. There is nowhere in that video where he picked anything. We can’t judge from only that.”
Julia stepped forward immediately. “But we can all now believe you are a liar, lying against Marcus when you saw nothing!”
The crowd responded at once.
A man said, “Yes, that’s true. He claimed he saw everything.”
A woman added, “He even swore on it confidently.”
Another voice said, “He was ready to crawl on his knees. That’s how sure he was.”
Someone else muttered, “This is getting suspicious.”
Marcus nodded slightly. “So since they searched me, let them search your bodyguard too. We have evidence he bumped into her.”
Jordan wanted to refuse. The words almost came out.

But he stopped himself.
Refusing now would only make him look worse.
Besides, he was confident the ring wouldn’t be with his bodyguard.
The bodyguard had slipped it into Marcus’s pocket earlier. Maybe Marcus had somehow noticed and thrown it away when no one was looking. That had to be the reason the ring wasn’t found on him.
Yes. That must be it.
Nothing would be found on his bodyguard also.
He straightened his shoulders and forced a calm expression.
“Well,” Jordan said loudly, “you can all go ahead. Search him. When you find nothing, you will all return to this poor man and realize he is just shifting things away from himself.”
Marcus spoke calmly. “Well, let them check him first.”
Several people nodded to it.
The guards turned to Jordan’s bodyguard. The man still looked composed. He raised his arms without protest as if he had nothing to hide.
Two guards stepped in and began the search.
They hadn’t even gone deep.
One of the guards suddenly paused.
His fingers had touched something inside the bodyguard’s pocket.
He slowly pulled it out.
A ring.
The old lady screamed, “What the fuck! That is my ring! That’s it!”
The hall exploded with noise.
“What the heck is this!”
“So it was him all along?”
“I can’t believe this!”
Jordan’s face drained of color. He stared at the ring like he had seen a ghost.
How did the ring end up there?
This was insane.
