The Disguised Billionaire She Rejected novel Chapter 29

Chapter 29

Marcus folded his arms as Natalie brought out a small bracelet from her pocket. It was simple at first glance, made of dark cord and threaded with ten dull beads that looked like polished stone.

She held it carefully. “Father was conscious for a moment before he passed out again. He told me the password to his safe and asked me to give you this.”

Marcus frowned as he collected the bracelet. He turned it over in his hand, studying every bead, checking for anything. But It looked ordinary, almost too ordinary.

“What does it do?” he asked.

Natalie shook her head. “He didn’t tell me much. He just said you must keep it with you all the time.”

Marcus stared at it for a moment longer. Yet he couldn’t figure it out. Still, he slipped it onto his wrist.

Natalie Added, “Also. I thought this would help our investigation”.

Then she brought out a bullet. It was the one the sniper had used. Engraved on the body of the bullet was a hyena symbol.

“This bullet was used. I have searched and there is no corporation that produces bullets with this symbol. It means it was made illegally by a gang.”

Marcus nodded. If they found the gang, they could find whoever tried to kill his father, he said.

“I want all the top IT experts in this nation right now. I want this tracked and I want to know which gang uses it. Right away!”

Meanwhile, after two days, Mr. Edward was still in the hospital with no development. The doctors said his condition had not changed. Marcus had already prepared to continue his schooling just as he

planned.

He arrived at the classroom slightly late.

Julia Brown was the one teaching and she had already started the lecture. The moment Marcus walked in, she stopped speaking and stared at him briefly. The room went quiet.

Marcus did not say a word. He walked straight to his seat and sat down calmly.

Everyone was surprised. If it had been anyone else arriving late to her class, she would have sent the person out immediately. However, she did not stop him. She simply continued her lecture as if nothing happened.

Marcus focused fully on her words. He listened carefully and absorbed everything. He gained more from that single session than he had from several classes before. Julia was smooth with her explanations and precise with her examples.

Meanwhile, at the back of the class, Jordan was seething.

The incident from the other day when he had been forced to crawl was already circulating around the school. Students had been mocking him openly. His pride had been crushed and every time he looked at Marcus, the anger in his eyes deepened.

He stared at Marcus with pure venom.

After some minutes, Julia finished the lecture and began to wrap up. Almost everyone clapped for her as she closed her notes.

She turned to leave, then paused.

“Marcus, see me at my office,” she said.

And with that, she walked away.

Thus, it only made Jordan more furious. He clenched his fists and told himself quietly, [I will make sure I destroy this bastard].

Meanwhile, Marcus went to see Julia in her office.

He knocked and stepped in. “You called for me, ma’am?”

Julia waved it off with a small scoff. “Stop already.”

Marcus had only said it out of respect. She was his teacher after all.

Julia leaned back slightly. “After that day, I didn’t hear from you. I was worried. You left in a hurry. What happened? Are you okay?”

Marcus sighed and forced a calm expression. “I just had to leave at that moment. Someone I knew was nearby and I went to check if they were okay. sorry i left you”

Julia nodded and did not press further. “That’s great. I hope the person is okay.”

Marcus nodded. “Yes.”

Julia bit her lower lip slightly. She felt a small sting of disappointment. For a moment she had wondered if he had rushed off for someone else, maybe Jessica was the someone he left her for in that dire

moment.

She cleared her throat. “Also, Mr. Edward… there’s still no news about him. I don’t think anyone could survive something like that. Who would do something so horrible?”

Marcus exhaled slowly and said with stiff face, “Yeah. Who would do such a thing? Whoever did it will be found no matter what.”

Julia looked at him strangely. He sounded unusually personal about it. Like he knew Mr. Edward

personally.

At that moment, Marcus noticed her arm, the one that had been hit by the shattered glass that day. It was wrapped in a bandage, but faint red stains were beginning to show through the fabric.

He stepped closer without thinking and gently held her wrist. “Are you okay?”

Julia winced softly. “It’s okay. Thank you.”

Marcus did not let go. He examined it more closely, helding her hands more tight. “It’s bleeding badly. I caused this. I should have protected you.”

Julia placed her other hand over his. “No. It’s not your fault. There was nothing you could have done

there.”

She slowly raised her head to look at him.
