Chapter 34
Julia’s patience was already thinning.
The room no longer felt like a reunion. Everyone had already picked sides and forgotten they were even supposed to be there. She leaned slightly toward Marcus, voice low.
“We should just leave,” she muttered. “This isn’t even a get-together anymore. They’re just… choosing people.”
Damien also nodded but Marcus still glued his eyes on Wilson.
Before he could answer, Wilson clapped his hands once, loudly, pulling the room back into focus.
“Yeah!” Wilson said, smiling like he had just thought of something brilliant. “Now I think we’re all getting a bit hungry. We should have a proper meal.”
A few people nodded immediately, as if they were waiting for him to lead.
He chuckled. “After all, we can’t be sitting in a place like this without treating ourselves well. we aren’t that broke. right”
Everyone laughed it.
Wilson leaned back in his chair, enjoying it.
“So tell me,” he went on, “what do we eat? How do we make this interesting?”
Jessica lifted her glass slightly, relaxed. “Everyone can just order whatever they want. It’s on me tonight.”
A wave of cheers broke out almost instantly.
“Of course!”
“That’s why I love her!”
“She’s still the same boss lady!”
Wilson raised a hand, smiling but shaking his head slightly.
“Good, good,” he said. “But honestly, that’s not socially… appropriate.”
A few eyebrows lifted.
He continued smoothly, as if explaining something obvious. “I mean, women shouldn’t carry payment
stress in situations like this. It doesn’t sit well.”
The room shifted a little. Some of the men exchanged glances.
“So,” Wilson said, straightening, “I think the men should handle it.” He smiled wider now. “Don’t you think?”

“Yes yes, we men will handle it”.

With everyone agreement, Wilson tapped the table once.
“So how about we make this interesting.”
He scanned the room. “There are what… fifteen guys here? Sixteen girls?”
Silence tightened slightly as people listened more carefully now.
“Each man picks a lady,” he said, voice steady, “and treats her to a proper meal. No half measures. You treat her very well, you spend all on her, properly.”
A few people chuckled, uncertain where this was going.
Wilson leaned forward, eyes bright.
“But here’s the fun part. Whoever spends the least…” he paused just enough for tension to settle, “…will allow himself to be humiliated. A full bucket of beer poured over him in front of everyone.”
A beat of silence followed.
The idea hung in the air, Everyone was confused and didn’t say anything at first.
Wilson spread his hands like it was nothing.
“We don’t want this party to be dull. We just want to spice it up a bit. Think of it like a game.”
He grinned.
“Don’t tell me you’re scared of a little fun… unless you’re broke and afraid you’ll end up the one who spent
the least.”
A few of the richer guys with ego at the table leaned forward immediately, like Wilson had just handed them something they had been waiting for.
One of them laughed. “No, of course not. Why would we complain? This is actually fun.”
Another snapped his fingers in agreement. “Exactly. It’s like a challenge. Finally something interesting in this boring reunion.”
A third guy, already loosening his watch like he was preparing for action, nodded. “I love this. Honestly. It changes the whole night.”
The energy in the room shifted quickly after that. What started as hesitation turned into approval, especially from the girls.
They began smiling more openly now, exchanging excited glances. To them, it wasn’t about fairness. It

was entertainment. And more importantly, it was opportunity. They already understood what was about to happen. The men would compete, overspend, show off. And whoever “lost” would be publicly humiliated.
Some of them were already mentally picking who they wanted to be paired with.
“He’s definitely going to pick me,” one girl whispered to her friend, laughing.
“And I hope mine doesn’t cheap out,” another replied, eyes scanning the table.
Jessica raised her hand slightly again. “But that still leaves one girl unpaired.”
Wilson didn’t even hesitate. He scoffed lightly.
“Don’t worry,” he said. “I will cover them myself.”
That statement landed differently.
A few heads turned toward him again, re-evaluating. The Wilson they remembered from school was a poor bully everyone tolerated out of fear.
Now, with the way he spoke. He is definitely now strikingly rich.
A low wave of murmurs moved through the room.
“I can’t wait for this game.”
“This is going to be crazy.”
“Tonight just got interesting.”
Julia’s chair scraped slightly as she leaned forward, irritation sharp in her voice.
“What is this?” she said. “We came here for a reunion. Not some… stupid class game.”
Damien nodded immediately beside her. “Yeah. We don’t have to do this. Let’s just eat and enjoy ourselves normally.”
Before anyone could settle that, Ivana laughed sharply.
“Oh please,” she said, turning toward them. “I already knew you three would be the problem.”
She pointed lazily between Julia, Marcus, and Damien.
“And we all know why.”
A few people smirked, waiting.
Ivana’s smile widened. “Because you are basically the poorest here. And you already know you are going to lose.”
Laughter spread across the room.
