Chapter 54
Julia sighed, unsure how to respond. She knew her family only cared about rich backgrounds, and to them, Marcus was just nobody.
Just as Marcus stepped forward to speak, “I-” he really wanted to reveal himself for Julia’s sake.
When Ms. Leah chimed in, “Just shut up! Who told you to interfere with your dirty, stinky mouth? Look… don’t even think about marrying my daughter. You two are not compatible. So just leave now before we call security on you!”
Mr. Alfred then stated, “Julia, you are a disgrace to me and this family. You keep embarrassing us, and I can no longer take it.”
Victoria, Julia’s cousin, had always hated her. Despite Victoria’s efforts to prove herself, the family always favored Julia. Today, she was thrilled to see Mr. Alfred scolding her.
“Grandfather,” she said, “at this rate, you have to do something about Julia. Maybe send her out of the family. Someone like her can’t keep dragging our name through the mud.”
Julia chimed in, “I don’t understand you all. All I want is to be happy. That’s all. He is the person I love, and he is the one I will marry.”
Victoria immediately shot back, “You bring this poor, dirty rag of a man into our family and call him your fiancé? Meanwhile, he can’t even afford a ring. There’s no engagement ring on your finger!”
The others noticed and began whispering.
“That’s true. No ring, and she’s calling him her fiancé.”
“How is that possible?”
Ms. Leah chimed in, “Julia, so there’s no ring, yet you’re calling him your fiancé? How stupid. I knew you were just playing with our intelligence. You two aren’t in any relationship-you’re just using him so we’ll stop disturbing you.”
Ms. Leah knew her daughter well. Without a ring, she immediately suspected the truth.
Mr. Alfred scoffed, “Oh, I thought as much. So you two are faking it. Julia, you don’t have to be like this, Even if you want to fake a relationship, don’t do it with this worthless man.”
Julia gulped. Seeing that they were about to be exposed, she said, “No, we didn’t fake it…”
Victoria cut in, “So you’re admitting he’s a broke-ass nigga who couldn’t even afford a ring! Pathetic.”
At that moment, there was a knock at the door. One of the family guards entered carrying a box.
Mr. Alfred frowned. “What is it?”
“Someone delivered this. It’s addressed to Ms. Julia.”

Everyone was curious about what was inside the box. Julia walked over, noticing there was no label indicating where it came from. She sighed, gently took the box, and opened it.
The moment she lifted the lid, a blinding ray of light burst out, making everyone squint.
The light was blistering. Just then, the item inside came to view.
It was not one ring but two- a beautiful couple ring set. The Queen’s Ring with three big ruby stones in its head, shining like pure fire, and its perfect matching pair. Not an ordinary ring, this was one of the most expensive rings in the world, costing one million dollars each, a total of two million dollars.
As everyone’s eyes landed on it, they were shocked.
Ms. Leah stood up quickly, “Julia, how did you get that? How baby?”.
“Is thag Queen’s Ring. what the heck”.
“How did julia get it”.
“wow… look at the light”
Everyone was stunned.
Julia didn’t have any idea what was going on. Just then, Marcus stepped forward and brought out one of the rings. He looked at Julia with love in his eyes.
“Will you marry me?” he said.
With that, everyone gasped. If Marcus is proposing with the ring, does that mean he was the one that bought it?
Ms. Leah was the first person to chime in. “What is happening here? What are you doing? You don’t even know who owns the ring and you are using it to propose.”
Then Marcus faced her and said, “It’s me. I bought it and had it sent here.”
Everyone gasped again.
How did he do that?
He must be really rich.
But he can’t even name his father.
They all whispered in surprised.
Mr. Alfred frowned. “I don’t understand. How could you afford it? Two million dollars. Are you joking right now?”
Marcus said, “No, I’m not joking, and yeah this is a two million dollars ring!”
Ms. Leah started saying it was impossible. “I already done a background check on him. He was

someone her ex-fiancée even used as a live-in husband and later broke up with him because he was poor. How did he afford it now?, he is just a useless fellow”.
Marcus just smirked and ignored them then faced Julia again. “Will you marry me?”
Julia didn’t know how Marcus got the ring but she decided to ask him later. She just happily said, “Yes, I
