Chapter 62
Jessica was shocked and could have turned into stone. She swiftly turned her head back and saw Marcus standing there with Julia, smirking at them.
Her and Travis knew they were already done for. Ms. Elena was still embracing her son when he turned around, saw Jessica and Travis, and pointed at them.
“Mommy, this wicked woman slapped me and abused me. She even called you poor and said bad things about you!”
Jessica gulped upon hearing this. Ms. Elena frowned, confused. “Uhn… who did that to my king?”
“Mom, this woman and that man are bad people. Just because I mistakenly bumped into her, she smacked me, called me bad things, and look at my hand I even have a wound!” He showed her the injured hand.
“What!” Ms. Elena was seething with anger as she turned to Jessica. “Is that true? Did you really do that?”
Jessica gulped and quickly twisted the story. “Ugh… he bumped into me by mistake, so I only scolded him. I didn’t say anything bad.”
“Liar!” the boy screamed. “She smacked me and abused me! Mommy, there’s CCTV in the lobby, right?
You should check it!”
Julia chimed in, “Yes, ma’am. You can check it. You’ll see what this horrible woman did.”
With that, Ms. Elena immediately called the control room. At that moment, Jessica tapped Travis, signaling that they should leave because it was obvious what the CCTV would show.
They stood up and tried to walk out. Ms. Elena was shocked. “Oh, since both of you are leaving, it’s obvious you did it. You slapped my son!”
Jessica cried out, “I didn’t know he was your son! He bumped into me and ruined my dress!”
Julia added, “Not only did she slap him, she even refused to apologize. She doubled down, calling him a useless boy born to a useless woman, and said he was poor.”
Julia intentionally added fuel to the fire. Ms. Elena grew even angrier. “What the fuck? You really did that?!
Her son, Tommy, testified and told his mother exactly how everything happened, including how Julia and Marcus had helped him.
With that, Elena picked up the contract draft and said, “Good thing you haven’t signed it yet.” She grabbed it by the edge and tore it into two.
Jessica felt like her heart was on fire. This deal could have taken her into the top 10 businesspeople in the city and made her one of the top 3 businesswomen. And now she had just lost it.

Ms. Elena said coldly, “I ought to have you arrested for assault, but I won’t do that. I’ll do something much worse. Listen carefully: I will make sure you never get a deal from any top company. I will use all my power to sabotage you at every turn. You will regret what you’ve done for the rest of your life!”
Jessica knew exactly what this meant. Ms. Elena of Cornwall was the undisputed top businesswoman in
the city.
Crossing her was career suicide. Jessica’s face paled as regret flooded through her. This single mistake had cost her everything.
Desperate, she dropped to her knees. “Please, Ms. Elena! I’m so sorry. I didn’t know he was your son. Forgive me, please. i will do anything!”.
Marcus scoffed. He couldn’t believe the acting all mighty Jessica could kneel and begged for something.
Ms. Elena looked down at her coldly. “If he weren’t my son, you might have gotten away with it. But I will never do business with a child abuser. I meant every word I said. I will sabotage you at every turn.”
Realizing pleading was useless, Jessica stood up, her expression shifting to defiance. She faced Ms. Elena and snarled, “Do whatever you want! I don’t fucking care! I’ll find another deal and rise above you. Tell your spoiled son to behave well next time!”
With that, she turned and stormed out, though her heart was shattering inside. She shot Marcus a venomous glare, as if this were all his fault, before disappearing through the door. Travis hurried after
her.
Ms. Elena shook her head in disbelief. “I can’t believe that woman. She is horrible.”
Julia nodded. “She is.”
Ms. Elena didn’t even know Jessica was Marcus ex fiancée, because she didn’t use social media much, and always on business trip. Also, Ms. Elena and Ms. Langstone weren’t close to each other even though they were siblings due to some past incident they wouldn’t talk about. In fact, only Marcus and Natalie knew they were siblings.
Ms. Elena then turned to them with genuine warmth. “Thank you both for protecting my son. I’m truly grateful.” She raised her head and instantly recognized Marcus, her nephew, but she said nothing about it. Instead, she smiled softly. “For helping my son, tell me whatever you want. I shall do it for you, no matter how difficult.”
Julia gulped, seizing the moment. “Actually, we are here for the contract deal.” She quickly spread out her proposal documents on the table.
They all sat down as Julia explained her vision with confidence and passion. Though Ms. Elena had originally planned to split the contract between Jessica and Julia before. Because Marcus already contacted her to give julia.
“Actually, the contract deal consists of two parts, each with a possible twenty million dollars profit,” Ms. Elena said.

“I love your proposal. I will give you the first. And for helping my son, I will award you the second part as well.” She smiled. “That makes it a forty-million-dollar profit contract for you.”
