Chapter 63
Julia was overjoyed to land the contract deal. She hadn’t expected it to come this easily. When they arrived home, they quickly made their way to the grand room. She had already called ahead about the contract, and everyone was present.
In the room, Julia presented the contract file and agreement. They were all shocked. Mr. Alfred spent nearly ten minutes looking through the file and reading it carefully.
“This is impossible!” he stated.
Ms. Leah asked to see it, and she too was shocked by what she saw. The contract was signed, and Julia
had secured it.
Victoria spiraled. “How is this possible? This is the contract everyone has been dying for. Even big companies were unable to get it. Joe, did you do this? I smell something foul here.”
Julia scoffed. “Does it matter how I did it? I already got you the contract you wanted. Now it’s your turn to do what you promised.”
Victoria chimed in, “Don’t tell me you expect this man to become the COO of our company. An outsider who just came yesterday. Moreover, we haven’t even confirmed the authenticity of this deal.”
Julia furiously snapped at her. “Grandfather promised him that. In fact, this is a signed deal that has already been documented. So whether you like it or not, he will be the COO. As for the deal, you can verify it. I don’t care.”
Mr. Alfred was dumbfounded and didn’t know what to say. He didn’t even have the slightest idea how
Marcus and Julia were able to secure this deal.
A forty-million profit was enormous and would greatly benefit the company. If the deal was genuine, he had no choice but to appoint Marcus as the COO.
At that moment, Steve stormed inside. He had just heard the news. Steve was Mr. Alfred’s first grandson and was supposed to be the one leading the company. But he was reckless and addicted to gambling.
He had heard about Marcus becoming COO and had come to disrupt things.
“What the heck is going on here?” Steve shouted the moment he barged into the room. “I heard you want to give someone unknown the CO0 position of our company?”
Mr. Alfred frowned at his outburst but still answered calmly. “Yes. Meet him. He is Julia’s fiancé. He managed to secure a contract worth forty million dollars in profit for the company. That is not a small achievement.”
Steve turned toward Marcus, and the moment their eyes met, his expression changed instantly.
“You!”
Everyone looked at him in confusion. Steve knew Marcus. He was his senior in school then. He always

Steve pointed directly at Marcus with disbelief written all over his face. “This one? He’s poor! I know him. We went to the same school. Everyone knows him. And you want him to head our company?”
Marcus remained calm while Julia’s expression darkened.
“That doesn’t matter,” Julia snapped coldly. “Who he was before has nothing to do with this.”
Steve scoffed loudly. “If you know him, then you should know he can’t become COO.”
Julia crossed her arms and looked straight at Mr. Alfred. “Then I’ll just go back to Cornwall and nullify the contract. Once I do that, the agreement becomes invalid.”
The entire room fell silent.
Everyone knew she was serious.
A forty-million-dollar contract disappearing overnight was not something the company could afford.
Steve immediately walked toward her. “Cousin, don’t be stupid. We can’t let this man become the face of our company. What about me? What about everything?”
Julia laughed mockingly. “Everything? You were made sales manager, and you nearly ruined the company funds because of your gambling addiction.”
Steve’s face darkened with embarrassment as several people lowered their heads awkwardly.
Julia continued firmly, “I stand by what I said.”
Deep down, Julia believed Marcus had no real job, and she saw this as an opportunity for him. That was why she was willing to fight for the position no matter what.
Seeing how stubborn she was, Mr. Alfred finally sighed heavily.
“Fine,” he said at last. “I will personally verify the authenticity of the contract. If it is valid… then he will become the COO.”
Julia immediately smiled. “Thank you, Grandfather. We’ll be waiting.”
Without giving anyone another glance, she grabbed Marcus’ hand and walked out of the grand room.
Victoria clenched her fists angrily. “Grandfather, are you really going to let this happen?”
Ms. Leah slowly placed the contract file on the table, her brows tightly furrowed.
“I don’t understand this man, Marcus, or whatever his name is,” she said thoughtfully. “First, it was the two-million-dollar ring. Now he somehow secures a forty-million-dollar contract? None of this makes
sense.”
Steve immediately chimed in with a sneer.

“Him? I know him too well. He’s poorer than a church rat. A two-million-dollar ring? That’s impossible.”
Mr. Alfred leaned back in his chair, his old eyes narrowing slightly as he sank into deep thought.
“There is definitely something behind this,” he muttered.
Then his gaze shifted toward Steve.
“That is why you have to find out.”
Steve blinked in surprise and pointed at himself. “Me?”
