Julia walked Marcus out and felt grateful for everything.

“I didn’t believe today would go easily. I can say Jessica even made it easier with her horrible attitude.”

Marcus nodded. “Yeah.” Then he added, “About the COO position, why don’t you want to head it? Also, I’m not even done with my studies. I have little knowledge of running a company.”

Julia scoffed. “I can assure you, you will do well. I’m your teacher and I know you are smart. Also, I don’t just want to venture into business. I love my teaching career. And this is an opportunity for you to have a job.”

Marcus just smiled. In fact, compared to the Langstone property, the Alfred family’s resources were like

the tip of a banana. But he didn’t refuse it, for Julia’s sake.

Julia then added, “Thanks. You can call off the engagement anytime you want.”

Marcus sighed and nodded. After that, they bade themselves farewell and Marcus left.

Julia sighed as she watched him leave. Just then, Ms. Leah chimed in from behind.

“What the heck did you see in that man? I am sure he is a dangerous fellow. Don’t let those rings deceive you. I’m sure he got them in a dubious way!”

Julia was already tired. “Mom, just let it go. I have decided to be with him, and nothing can stop me!”

Ms. Leah was angry, but then she dipped her hand into her pocket and brought out a ticket.

“This is for the ELITE Banquet holding tomorrow evening. It is held once a year.”

The ELITE Banquet is an annual event where only people with over thirty million dollars in assets can attend. It only hosts the high-end people in the city.

Even the wealthy struggle to get in, but Ms. Leah managed to get a ticket.

“This is the ticket. You should go, and I’m sure it will be packed with big men. Make sure to get yourself a proper suitor.”

Julia couldn’t believe this. “I just got engaged. Marcus just left, and you are setting me up with another man?”

“You don’t have any future with that man! I don’t care about the nonsense both of you are into. I spent a lot to get this ticket. The lowest man there will have thirty million dollars in assets. You are beautiful and attractive. I’m sure you will get one man!”

Julia wanted to talk, but her mother clipped the ticket onto her clothes and said, “I spent a lot on it. Go alone. Don’t you dare take anyone with you!”

That night, Marcus made his way to the private hospital where his father was admitted. Natalie was already there and, surprisingly, she looked much better.

Marcus sighed and told the doctors to give them a moment. They stepped out.

Marcus sighed again, then gently held his father’s hand and closed his eyes. He wanted to use the same technique he had used for Natalie. Natalie stood there watching.

After a few seconds, the bead started blinking. The first one. Then the second.

Natalie gulped, praying it would work.

Then an aura started coming from the bead, which indicated it was working. Natalie was about to cough again when Marcus coughed and then spat out blood.

Natalie rushed to him. “Are you okay?”

Marcus sighed and said yes.

“What happened”, Natalie asked.

Marcus said “maybe father’s health is worse, or i can’t use this bead power properly. i just felt a sharp pain in mh heart”.

Natalie soothed him, “You shouldn’t pushed yourself hard. we will find another way”.

Marcus sighed and said, “I have to find who these mysterious guys is.”.

The next morning, across the street. Marcus meet with two of Lord Ray’s Men, who was now working for him. They were present when the two mysterious men attacked Natalie.

He was asking them if they had seen the men before, and know anything about them.

“Actually, we don’t meet with boss client. but this two men usually come alot and bought a large quantity of bullets. aside that. i don’t know anything more”. Zander one of the man said.
