The next day, Jessica stood in front of Vera Restaurant, a high-end establishment. Beside her was Travis. She was here to meet with Mr. Smith, along with the same family members from the Langstone family. This way, she could prove that this man was real and that they weren’t running a scam on her.
Jessica had dressed to impress. She wore a tailored cream-colored designer dress that hugged her figure elegantly, paired with pearl earrings, a matching necklace, and sleek black Louboutin heels.
The outfit screamed sophistication and quiet wealth, exactly the kind of high-class presentation expected when meeting the Langstone family. Being seen with them could elevate her status significantly, and she knew it.
She gulped nervously. Travis leaned in and said calmly, “They are waiting for you.”
Jessica nodded, taking a deep breath. “Let’s go.”
As they entered the restaurant, they were immediately directed to the exclusive VVIP section. The private room was set up in true VIP fashion.
“Oh, you are here!” a man exclaimed warmly.
This was Mr. Smith himself. He was a tall, distinguished-looking man in his late forties with slicked-back dark hair, sharp features, and an air of effortless authority.
From his bespoke Italian suit to his gleaming leather shoes, his entire appearance could easily cost over $200,000.
Jessica greeted him with a respectful bow. She then surveyed the room and saw about ten different people seated around the table. All of them were dressed in luxurious high-fashion style – tailored suits, elegant dresses, and subtle but expensive accessories.
Mr. Smith smiled and gestured toward them. “These are the decision makers of the Langstone family. They have been waiting for you.”
The group looked slightly annoyed by her bow. One of the older men waved it off dismissively. “You asked Mr. Smith to meet with us because you want to know if he is real. Look, this is a limited-chance deal. You have a choice to enter or opt out, we are not forcing anyone. This is the Langstone family. People have been begging us just to invest in this project.”
Another man added, pointing at Travis, “If not for Smith, and the fact that he seems close to this young man here – who has been running around to make sure you secure it – we wouldn’t have stressed ourselves to be here.”
A third man spoke firmly, “If you want to join or not, tell us now. We have people lining up.” Hearing them speak this way, Jessica felt a wave of relief. This was exactly how the Langstone family would talk, arrogant, direct, and unbothered by small investments. They clearly didn’t need her money. This felt like a genuine blessing.

Mr. Smith nodded. “I already told her that. But she is skeptical. If not for Travis, I wouldn’t bother at all.”
Another member added coldly, “This is over 50 million in profit. It’s your choice.”
Jessica bowed her head slightly. “I apologize,” she said politely. “My concern was just something any serious business person would have. I hope I didn’t offend anyone.”
Mr. Smith waved a hand dismissively. “We don’t even announce this opportunity because people would flood us, and we don’t want that chaos. So, are you in?”
Jessica sighed deeply. This was a perfect opportunity – one that could change her life. Travis leaned in close and whispered, “What are you waiting for? Say yes.”
But Jessica hesitated, her eyes scanning the room. She was searching for Natalie. Actually, Natalie was supposed to be one of the core Langstone family members. She was always present at their parties, meetings, and even company events. Why wasn’t she here?
“Where is Natalie?” Jessica asked suddenly. “Isn’t she supposed to be here?”
The question sent a visible shock through Mr. Smith and the others. There was a momentary, uncomfortable pause before one of the men spoke up.
“Oh, her? She isn’t someone relevant!” he said with a chuckle. “She isn’t among us, the real decision makers. She’s just some pawn we put out there to help run the company. None of us have time for the daily grind.”
