The Disguised Billionaire She Rejected novel Chapter 96

chapter 96

Mr. Smith pushed a thick folder of documents across the polished mahogany table toward her. “Then you will send the money here,” he said smoothly, tapping the top sheet. “All the wire instructions are

inside.”

Even though Jessica had seen everything, the opulent VVIP room, the powerful Langstone decision- makers, she still harbored deep doubts. Investing such a large sum could hurt her financially if anything went wrong, legitimate or not. She cleared her throat.

“Give me the full draft,” she replied firmly. “I have to discuss it with my lawyers and other business partners back at the office before I conclude anything.”

One of the stern men at the table leaned back, crossing his arms. “Okay, so you still haven’t trusted us. I’ll call the other investors right now and tell them the slot is open.”

Jessica pleaded quickly, “No, please. You know I just have to follow procedure. It’s for my own protection. I will sign it later, I promise.”

Travis sighed beside her, looking frustrated. “Can’t you just sign it now? This is a golden chance.”

But Jessica stood her ground, her cream-colored designer dress suddenly feeling too tight under the pressure. She kept her expression calm and professional.

Mr. Smith checked his expensive watch and nodded. “Well, have it your way. But we will only give you three days. After that, we lock it up and find someone else. Opportunities like this don’t wait.”

Jessica felt a wave of relief wash over her as she accepted the files. “Thank you. I will have feedback for you as soon as possible.”

They nodded. then Jessica used the opportunity to asked for the braiding project. asking them if she could get it.

Mr. Smith replied, “Sure. that would be yours also”.

Jessica was very happy!.

After some more polite but tense small talk about market conditions and projected profits, they ended

the conversation.

Jessica bid them all farewell with a respectful nod, then walked out with Travis close behind. The heavy restaurant door closed softly behind her.

As soon as she was gone and out of earshot, the private VVIP room fell into immediate silence. Everyone at the table gazed at each other, the earlier arrogance melting away into sly expressions.

After they were so sure she would have gone far.

One of the men finally broke the stillness, a smirk spreading across his face. “Did I act well?”.

With that, everyone at the table burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the private VVIP room like a pack of wolves celebrating a successful hunt.

Mr. Smith wiped a tear from the corner of his eye, still chuckling. “In fact, you acted more well than I expected,” he said, pointing at the stern man who had crossed his arms earlier.

“Especially with the ‘people all lining up” line. The pressure was perfect, with subtle threats, the fake urgency. Oscar-worthy, all of you.”

The hired actors grinned, shedding their serious personas. One adjusted his tie with a smirk.

Mr. Smith had hired this men to act as the Langstone board leaders. to convince Jessica to sign the file and send the money.

One of them leaned back, still smiling. “Hope she signs it. She seems quite stubborn and goodness, that hesitation almost threw me off.”

Mr. Smith waved a hand confidently. “She’ll come to us. TThree days is enough time for greed to win

over doubt.”

Meanwhile, outside the restaurant, Jessica walked with a spring in her step, clutching the thick folder to her chest. Meeting the supposed Langstone board leaders felt like one of her lifelong achievements.

She was so happy.

Travis grinned beside her. “I told you he is legit. This could change everything for us.”

Jessica nodded, though a shadow of caution lingered.

“But why didn’t you sign?” Travis asked, puzzled.

“I just have to think it through,” she replied. “It’s a huge sum. I need my lawyers to review every detail.”

Just at that moment, Jessica’s eyes caught someone approaching the entrance. It was Natalie.

Jessica scoffed under her breath. “The valueless is here! Lol, look at her. Someone would have thought she held anything in the Langstone family.”

Since the fake board leaders called Natalie valueless. this made her believe she was nothing, she decided to get back at her for everything she had put her through.

Meanwhile, Natalie had just entered the venue. She received urgent information on Mr. Smith, the notorious scammer, was inside conducting something very daring.

He was assembling fake actors and calling them the Langstone family. Guards were already waiting outside, ready to pounce. If she set eyes on this Mr. Smith, it would be over for him. He would beg for death before the night was done.

Natalie scanned the elegant lobby, waiting for Mr. Smith to come into view.

A familiar voice suddenly chimed in behind her. “What are you looking for, valueless?”.

This made Natalie turn around. She saw Jessica and Travis grinning smugly at her.

“Valueless?. Who are you calling that?” Natalie asked coolly.

Jessica grinned wider. “Who did you think? You. A stupid valueless woman, thinking you were someone superior, acting like you owned the world. Meanwhile, you have nothing!”

Natalie stiffened. “You really just faced me and started abusing me?.”

Jessica shot back, “That’s how it feels, trampling on me, acting like you’re important and taking Marcus from me. Anyway, I got the truth about you. You are nothing to the Langstone family aside from being a puppet. You are an illegitimate daughter!”

Natalie felt a surge of offense but quickly masked it. “What are you saying?”

“I will say it again. You are useless as fuck. You can’t even step into the decision-makers’ room. Well, I just came from there, and they told me everything about you.”
